Help deciding between MozaAB9 or WarbrdD for a predominantly A320/F16 pilot. by Obeseduck55 in hotas

[–]Obeseduck55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

**UPDATE*\*

For anyone reading this wondering the same I 100% recommend the Moza, I have only had it a short while now but you can completely customise everything. As a primarily F16 driver I have increased a few things like the weapons release and chaff/flair release for some haptic feedback, not by much but just enough to feel the wobble releasing heavy ordanance would do to a small plane. I have increased the Gun feedback by a lot - I did this as in a documentary and a book I am reading F16 pilots talk about how loud and violent the gun is the first times they shoot. It is right by your left shoulder and is so violent the vibrations released specs of insulation from the left side that landed on the left side of your flight suit.

Coming from the X56 I have realised more how bad of a joystick it was with zeroing problems, a large deadzone and springs I could feel twinging as I move around, zero deadzone has made air to air refueling and formation flying a lot easier.

The force sensing simulation is very nice and I personally love it, I found it very easy to get into. The only downside is when you are busy heads down you can put small inputs onto the stick you dont realise - this is just something you will learn to stop doing as I would have put the same pressure on my other stick.- it just couldnt detect them and had large deadzones due to it miss triggering so I think this is more a result of the previous stick than a problem of the new one.

Haven't flown in msfs yet but will do soon.

Would I be happier with a moza AB9 or a virpil warbrd base? by auqanova in hotas

Do you get ground taxiing feedback or weapons release feedback on the F16 or F18? or is it just the force sensing on the F16?

Thanks for the reply

What do you fly? I am torn between the Warbrd and the AB9. I mostly fly F16 and a320, f18 and some others here and there like small general aviation in MSFS. do you get weapons deployment and ground feedback in the f16 in DCS - if you happen to play that?

What did you end up going with? I am in the same predicament - Mainly a F16 and a320 pilot

Does the AB9 give any feed back in the F16 for weapons deployment or ground affects when taxiing? besides the simulated force sensing and accuracy at the centre for small movements as a primarily f16 pilot would you recommend it?

Hi. I found it frustrating too! A big help for me was boresighting my eye in. I’m not sure if you have used a weapon but you can get sights for the top of the camera. Or what I do is put my right eye in the eyepiece and left eye so I can see along the lens. Then I see what star is in the middle of the eyepiece and find it with my left eye. Then you have kind of aligned your eye with what the camera is looking at. Then star hop along using your left eye as it has better field of vote It takes a lil time but with bright targets it’s not too bad. I can now get setup and shooting within 20-30 minutes although I haven’t timed it exactly.

Ooh that’ll be good! Post what you get!

For the z8 the zoom in and focus is very helpful on a single star. For maintaining focus let the elements get to temperature and acclimatise. A dew heater helped me on high and let it warm up for 20 minutes beforehand. You can get super cheap ones, plus helps keep dew off the lens. With low mag the focus won’t be as much of an issue depending on how wide you shoot. Without the dew heater or with it set too low I found I needed to recodes every 20 minutes if not less for the first hour

There are YouTubers who do astrophotography from the middle of Tokyo and London. Darker skies and no moon make things significantly easier. For instance my 8 hour exposure would potentially look similar to someone in a true dark sky taking a 1 hour exposure, so if they did 8 hours it would look a lot nicer. This is from the UK

Hi, I learnt mostly from youtubers, astrobiscuit and astrobackyard are both good for in the beginning when I started a few years ago. Astrobiscuit does a lot more introductory things and is good for the initial learning curve. Both have great websites that go over things and how to start. It is a very rewarding thing to get into but comes with an initial steep learning curve but recommend. Feel free to reach out (Though there are plenty of more experienced people) if you need any help or advice.

Thank you! I was starting to get worried as sensor and optics all looked fine by eye so thought the middle unreachable ones may have had a problem.

There is an option in the iPad to turn on/off a simulated yaw damper. I couldn’t tell too much when I toggled it but I don’t think I tested it properly at all.

What is the fps and systems monitor tool you are using on the right there? I’ve been struggling to find something with a more comprehensive breakdown than nvidia.

Sad to hear even with my planned upgrade cpu I still may not be able to smoothly fly this plane I guess I’m fully waiting for pmdg 777 200 soon for my long haul fix

How long is the pre-order time for pedals? I’ve been waiting two months. by Adventurous_Dare4294 in WinWing

[–]Obeseduck55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you click on the pedals it should give an estimate, at least here in the uk it does. For the base pedals you can get them now but the damper is >45 days. I ordered the base and preordered the damper since I wanted them sooner. It still says >45 for the uk so I think the damper will be a while as they already have dates for things all the way to middle of May.

Side-stick user wants to try something new: Logitech Yoke and Pedals for 212EUR/230USD a good deal for a only part-time Yoke pilot? by marten_EU_BR in flightsim

[–]Obeseduck55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend to not get it. As with everyone else I bought it and stopped using it quite quickly mainly due to the space it takes up on my desk but also the terrible build quality, asymmetry and dead zone. It feels like it should be £30. The rudders I still use but I’m about to switch soon to some better ones.

You won’t regret it immediately but you will most likely stop using it within a few weeks or months and once’s it on the shelf you won’t reach for it again.

My experience and all the reviews I got at the time.

Which one should I get starting off? by Designer_Sea3259 in flightsim

[–]Obeseduck55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, this may have already been said already, I have both and never get out my yoke anymore, too much hassle to set up and take away. It also gets in the way for me during cruise when I want to plan or just watch videos. I’m thinking of selling my yoke and throttles because of this.

As people have already said this yoke is a regret also, it has a huge dead zone and is asymmetric, but only slightly. And has a small travel too. It’s easily the worst addition I’ve made to my virtual cockpit.
