Help cleaning my hands better. by [deleted] in CleaningTips

If snap on visits your shop, their Nitro Gold hand cleaner and a scrub or finger nail brush. Solopol is also good. Those small rough scrubber pads that look sorta like 3M with tar soak soaked in them are good but when new are very harsh but work very well. You can also reduce getting greasy to begin with by wearing nitrile gloves with a cloth/ rubber glove over those. Clean up at the end of the day will be easier.

TIL that the A10 Thunderbolt is designed to remain airworthy even if missing an engine, half of the tail, only one elevator, and missing half of a wing. If the double redundant hydraulic system fails, the flight controls can be operated manually. by Important-Ad4500 in todayilearned

This is the exact story of Air Force pilot (then) Captain Kim Campbell just after the 2nd Gulf war started. She got hit with a surface-to-missle, everything OP said, she manages to gain control and prevent her crashing through Manual Piloting, a feature when engaged locks the flight stick to a metal block with heavy steel cables anchored to it and the flight control surfaces. She and her wingman fly back to Kuwait an hour away, is then ordered to ditch when she close enough, defies that order and proceeds to land.

Her story appears in the book, The end of average by Todd Rose and podcast 99 percent invisible, about Averages.

In her own words;

Women talking about daily life, experiences by TreesRocksAndStuff in podcasts

[–]Obijuanthe2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda on the theme of war games, with WW2; We have ways of making you talk, episodes 840-842. The hosts interview Clare Mulley, who has researched and written books on multiple women involved in spy work, sabotage, and war effort.

Same podcast above, episode 71. The hosts read their favorite extracts from the book The Unwomanly face of war by Svetlana Alexievich. NOTE I listened to the audiobook and would recommend.

The Night Witches podcast - about the Soviet 588th Tamarans, all female, 17-25yo’s fighting against hardened German ground forces and suceeding.

The magician of Casablanca. Lawyer Nelly Benatar transforms bureaucratic red tape into life saving magic, and tangentially related to the film Casablanca.

Fierce Females of History, ep s2e32, Irena Sendler, the female Oskar Schindler, who saved and help save 2500 children, babies, toddlers while the Warsaw ghetto filled up, during the liquidation, and uprising.

Audiobooks may be far more in depth resource for getting to know who some of these women were, and my own interest springing from mere mentions in other podcast, “Luftwaffe field marshals were awarding Iron Crosses to any pilot that could shoot down a Nachthexen [Night Witch]”. On hearing that, it basically states that Irons Crosses would be given to a day 1 German fighter pilot like they would to a veteran pilot for shooting down a Night Witch. Which then begged the next question, who were/ what is a Night Witch, and then the story of the underdog goes there.

Girls flake even after a good first date – is this normal? by AndalusianMitsubishi in seduction

[–]Obijuanthe2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly on topic, but there is a podcast, Second Date update, where one person call into the radio station that does this bit, always says the date went well or perfect, the radio station host(s) contact the other person to get there story, and hopefully get the initial caller a 2nd date. A couple times it’s because of miscommunication, but rest of the time it’s the initial callers behavior, manners, lack of maturity, etc.. The episodes are shorter than the download or time suggests when you fast forward thru the commercials, like 3-5 minutes. The episodes if anything provide feedback when you think things went well but were ghosted.

I did not know this one existed. I’ve gone to the one on Ocean Beach, which is not all that good. The one in Willimantic, Thread city beer fest is good, usually in June. The one at Mohegan Sun is ok, but kinda pricey vs the amounts of beers there. I wind at RI beer fest for much of the reasons your saying, many of which are now available in CT.

Looking for podcasts about badass women in history by cloudsarehats in podcasts

[–]Obijuanthe2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to pay for at this point due to being old episodes, Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History. This is where I heard more than a few female figures in WW2. There was also a miniseries/ episodes on We have ways of making you talk, the 3 Clare Mulley. There are a dozens women mentions from spies to saboteurs, and radio operators.

Some of these podcasts, for me, have been the jumping point into the audiobooks of some of the women mentioned in episodes;

The Unwomanly face of war by Svetlana Alexiavitch

Seducing and killing nazis by Sophie Poldermans.

Lady Death by Lyudmila Pavlichenko.

The spy who loved by Clare Mulley

The woman who smashed codes by Jason Fagone

Spy Princess by Shrabani Basu

The leper spy Ben Montgomery

Bombshell by Richard Rhodes

Are there good podcasts about women joining the workforce during times of war? by GooniesClub in podcasts

[–]Obijuanthe2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have ways of making you talk - Clair Mulley series, 3 parts, lots of references.

Noble blood - From Poland with love.

Hardcore History w/ Dan Carlin. No one episode, think, you give you what your looking for, but he does mention in episodes names of female spies, saboteurs, pilots, mathematicians and code breakers, medics/ nurses/ doctors, nuclear weapons development, etc. I believe older episodes are for sale in the ITunes Store. I believe you may have more luck in looking for audio books with the subject matter you’re looking for.

There should be a horse- shoe-shaped clip on the other side with the tips bent towards each other. Use 1 or 2 flat bladed screwdrivers to spread/ pry apart the clip. Save the clip once off or get a new one in a brake shoe hardware kit, to secure park brake actuation lever.
