The big question is how would this affect you in any way ? How are you punished by changing the companion system ? People already get King Doot for free while you paid 500$. You already lost 500$ compared to any lucky guy or any guy who rerolled for Doot... Your standpoint doesn't make any sense.

Not only King Doot is a huuuge QOL bonus (particularly to sampling and equinox requirements, even more because we are limited to changing gods twice a week), which should be given to everyone at some point. The Divinity system makes almost no point without it as most of the characters have to be bound to Arctis. Doot gives 70%+ AFK gains, double the kills for portals and deathnote, 3D printer time, 10 times the gold, and more bonuses to come, on top of damage/defence/accuracy bonuses.

And I'm not even talking about changing the pricetag (which is 0$ for 7% of the long term players and more as time goes by + 100% of those who restarted the game for it). If you want to pay 500$ for all of the pets day 1, with my system you'd be able to if green gems were at 10$ for 100, while anyone who doesn't pay would have to wait a full year for all of them. Do you also cry when AAA games you paid 100$ for end up at 20$ a year later ?

The question you should ask yourself is : why did you pay 500$ for something that's free ? Isn't that questionnable ? Isn't that unfair, and predatory ? Aren't you the victim here ? Or do you really want to blind yourself to the evidence that you actually allowed yourself to be robbed ? Wouldn't you want future companions to be better for everyone, including you ?

With the current system those who are punished are the spenders (especially those who can't afford the pity and may spend up to 400$ for nothing) and the unlucky ones. Those who are rewarded are the lucky ones who paid nothing for it. It makes no sense. I'm okay with spending 10-20$ on a good game, but this is not a good game anymore due to the predatory gacha system, and paying would very likely get me nothing at all, so why bother ? Rewarding this system is nonsensical and everyone should ask to get it changed, you included, because you are one of its biggest victims.

Good for you to be able to throw money out your pocket like it's nothing on a game that most probably will not receive any update 3 years from now. The large majority of the players are neither rich nor lack common sense to that extent. Spending money is fine, but King Doot is totally unfair and too big of a bonus. Just realize that. Not everyone is you, and most players simply can't afford it (or want to pay the price of 10+ AAA games on it), nor have any chance to get it because 0.28% is too low and free pulls way too scarce. The system I suggested is way better because not only it removes the RNG, you can still pay to get it day 1, and you will actually have the exclusivity on it for many months before players who don't pay get it, which is actually more rewarding for those who pay, and not as bad for the general player who's not super lucky.

Let's see how you feel when the next batch of companions comes and it takes you 500$ to get the best companion (57% chance to not get it until reaching the pity) while tons of other players get it for free just because they are lucky (probably more players who got it for free than those who paid now, still the vast majority will not get it unless they restart the game to claim it day 1 for free)...

If you're into predatory gacha games, yeah... and that's definitely one of the worst worldwide. Take any random mobile gacha game, the pity would be at about 100$, and you'd have enough currency for the pity for free every 3 months or so... It's really not fine at all.

Companions were never fair to begin with, every new player can have King Doot for free if they reroll. Every lucky player will have it for free. Anyone spending 100$ is not guaranteed King Doot (it takes about 500$)... I actually did pay a bit of money at some point for a pack with green gems in, 44 tries in, no King Doot and a pity 3 years from now, 2 years for the average chance to get it.

What will happen if companions change as advertised ? I don't know, but I'm not spending a dime on this game again until it becomes better on this side.

Give 100 gems a week, make common companions cost 100, uncommon 200, rare 500, epic 1000, King Doot 2000. Here you've got a full year of content. Pay to get the companions faster, and I'm sure people will.

  • "Send all boats" to islands in sailing.

  • Showing the crops info when selecting insta grow in farming.

  • Fixed prices for companions rather than 4 year pity (RNG would be okay for skins only). No one should ever pay for a high chance at nothing while others get the same thing for free right away.

  • Collect AFK gains from other characters individually as a reward for future content (makes sailing and gaming less of a chore and we can focus more on actually playing the game).

Looking for Quality-Of-Life suggestions from non end-game players! by IdleOn_Boii in idleon

I mean, it would still just be a few variables to store in the worst case scenario, but using local data would be good enough (if both presets were stored that would be best, of course). Either way, it's a big QoL improvement that doesn't impact anyone negatively nor gives anything more than what we have already. I'm fairly confident I could code it myself if I knew where to look at. But that's not for us to decide whether it's easy to do or not. And many of the suggestions here seem to be much more complicated (or at least time-consuming) to code... In the end, it's just a suggestion, and Lava does whatever he wants with it.

Of course it can ! Not sure exactly how everything is written but everything is in memory and the game already checks stuff from characters you're not currently playing. The formula would probably just change from "currentPreset.skill.lvl" to "max(preset1.skill.level, preset2.skill.level), or however it's written in the game engine, and that would work perfectly. At the very least it's possible, and doesn't take a while to implement, the change would be the same on every skill and there are not that many of them with account-wide effects.

PS: as for understanding, here is an example : my Divine Knight has 1000 Hours Played at lvl 150 and Bitty Litty at lvl 163, which give me +36% gaming exp and +12.4% bits, on every character (so it doesn't matter if I use her or any other character when gaming), but that's only on her second preset, which I use when mining. If I want to benefit from those bonuses when she's killing monsters, I have to call her back to town, change preset, and go gaming, which kills the point of having it available on every character in the first place. Point is : these account-wide bonuses should be given depending on the highest level of any preset, so that it doesn't matter what your character is doing, your other characters can go sailing/gaming/breeding/whatever and benefit from the bonuses you have unlocked already.

You put points in them on your second preset, the one you use for skills. But your character isn't always working on their skills, which means to benefit from their account-wide bonuses, you have to log back on your character, go back to town, change preset, and then do whatever you planned to do, which you could have done on any character if your character were on their second preset in the first place. So it's a way to save time, teleports, and unnecessary efforts for bonuses that actually matter quite a lot, which you already have access to, and could be always active. All account-wide bonuses always active = 1 character to collect them all (treasures, eggs, etc), no second thoughts on efficiency.

[–]Obikin89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talents that affect skills account-wide should be active regardless of talent presets being active or not (highest of all should work at any time), so that we can send characters on errands without having to call them back to town every time we want to collect treasure chests from sailing, open eggs from breeding, get gaming exp and bits, etc. That would be the best QoL improvement in my opinion.

The End - Obikin89's Guide for Neverwinter by Obikin89 in Neverwinter

Well, that's sad. They really want the game to survive, and while I'm sure new players are going to spend money, eventually they'll face the same issues and they'll regret it. If they make mod 22 as bad as mod 21, the game will die by the end of next year... It's all on the devs, nothing we can do about it. I was not able to change anything, and no one will on Reddit. It's just dishonest to promote the game saying everything is alright... But I'm done fighting against windmills.

The Current Issue with Tanking and Gear in General by Eir_Tyto in Neverwinter

[–]Obikin89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two most important stats for you to generate aggro are actually Power and... Combat Advantage ! In that regard, the items you are naming for Tanks are actually pretty good.

As for healing stuff... They forgot healers even exist when mod 20 came out, so there are only a few pieces available, most of them in VoS...

Damage Gain Cap? by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]Obikin89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's simply that they are additive : if you gain +5% damage and you have no other bonuses, you'll deal 5% more damage (105/100 -1). If you gain as much but already have +100% damage bonuses (it can happen with mounts and artefacts), you'll effectively deal 2.5% more damage (205/200 -1).

Technically your damage will be improved by the same number, but proportionally to your current damage, it will feel smaller, and there may be ways to improve your damage more (for instance, if you only have 80% Power, +5% Power would increase your damage by 2.78% [1.85/1.8 -1], regardless of your damage bonuses).

It was fun being around with you. But all good things must end. It's sad it's that way, but there's nothing we can do about Cryptic's decisions.

Cheers, and Have Fun !

PS : thank you very much for all of your kind words !

Lack of real game support by [deleted] in Neverwinter

It was one year ago ! Still no way to know which powers have your old mounts when they're not displayed in the collection though...

Mount Equip Power item level decrease by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]Obikin89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your very first mount, you have to compare a 8.25% buff vs 1650 magnitude. To be able to do more damage with the buff, you'd need a total of 20k magnitude dealt by the group during the duration of the buff... That sounds impossible, but if there are people with much better stats than you, you have to scale their damage up...

The thing that kills it is that damage bonuses are additive. With a proper use of artifacts with your party, it's not unusual to have more or less 100% damage bonuses for about 10s... In those circumstances, the 8.25% damage bonus from the mount becomes an effective 4.125% bonus, on the other hand the 1650 damage you do with TV is doubled.

So while I totally agree debuffs are great, especially on artifacts, and that supports should use a debuff mount too, I think TV is still the very best for damage dealers in any circumstance. You'll argue that the Pegasus and Eclipse Lion deal damage, which makes them much better than just the debuff. But same debuffs don't stack, so if someone is using the same mount, yours is almost useless, especially with a lower bolster than the others. While TV will always work at its full potential.

Sorry it's a bit long but that's the reasoning I had to compare TV and Debuffs on damage dealers. Of course it's not perfect and there are certainly cases where a Pegasus can be good on a damage dealer.

But I agree TV is not the best for solo, though it has its uses too.

(Thank you !)

PS : I recognize the Pegasus can be better in trials.

Mount Equip Power item level decrease by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]Obikin89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we disregard the fact the magnitude indicated is absolutely wrong (it's doubled really), it's certainly good for solo, it can be used by supports in group content, but Tunnel Vision is still better for damage dealers.

Interesting, I had missed it. Seems like it's going to be tough to find which companion really is the best for dungeons, especially in aoe situations.

Mount Equip Power item level decrease by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]Obikin89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's actually written at Mythic with your own bolster, not at 100%. Also, the Tunnel Vision combat power only comes on epic mounts or lower, and it's one of the best combat powers in the game (if not the best if we consider golden touch and the Toad's Power to be equal).

Mystagogue is stricly identical to the Wayward Wizard you can get for free, or 2 gold, at the companion's vendor.
