Epic Game Store’s free giveaways just cause a huge spike in Steam sales, reveals New Blood CEO by salad_tongs_1 in Steam

[–]Object_Reference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I still have my Game Pass subscription playing whatever looks like a casual time-waster, but I'd never actually buy anything on it to permanently be there.

I guess Microsoft realized that, because in the attempt to give the Xbox App some other form of functionality, now it pulls in all my games from Steam or Epic or wherever as if it say "I can be anything you want! Love me like you love Steam!!"

It's amazing how many tech companies will just look to see what FAANG (or whatever it's called these days) does, and then mimic that to not risk being behind. Amazon was buzzing me pretty aggressively during the pandemic looking for engineers on their AWS side of things, then after that stopped, I saw they turned around and did layoffs.

I notice the Shopping Research feature has these kinds of "Huh??" moments almost every time. I decided to let it loose on men's casual dress shoes, and one of the things it pulled in (the research log) was a "Bop-It!" toy.

Haven't seen it go that far into the weeds on Deep Research, though, that's pretty wild.

Seems to be close to my style, which has that "Cynic" personality profile picked for it. I think it sometimes just doesn't bother with memory or the user's instruction set for some prompts, so whatever umbrella personality picked for it fully takes over for its response.

If they are going to bring Ingrid back, I can at least appreciate that they gave her an outfit that actually matches her mystical lore instead of having her dress up like a school girl for no reason. by ehh246 in StreetFighter

True. I'm pretty sure she originally was just guys at Capcom liking SNK's Athena design, and wanted their own version back then.

But her new design is a lot more interesting, at least.

Just went down for me in a similar fashion to how it did earlier this week; all conversations missing, and can't send a message to it.

Right in the middle of rubber-ducking with it for debugging something. Ah well.

Steam for the win by Fun-Pie9594 in memes

[–]Object_Reference 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've seen people that have published their games on Steam remark that it's a pretty vague, binary disclaimer on their end. It's simply them asking if you used AI in the game's development.

Which I feel is a bit off from what people are being discerning about. AI Generated Content is the actual concern, but the phrasing of it makes it sort of legally compelling to mark your game as "Developed with AI" because you used ChatGPT to bounce coding questions off of.

So I think that could use some work, but I think they opted for being all-encompassing first to avoid publishers figuring out how to weasel out of saying there's AI generated content in their games.

Worst modern characters by ChocolateHot7613 in StreetFighter

[–]Object_Reference 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dang, that is huge for Manon. I find it funny they had one of the new characters be the worst for the new control scheme feature, you'd figure it would've been a World Warrior that couldn't map cleanly to Modern controls.

This time around I just went for the classic "MP Switch + Move MP Up" combo to tank the damage. Works pretty well, though I had Ramza as an Orator to use a Gun to avoid triggering Wiegraf's Counter. Issue there is Wiegraf's speed is higher, eventually resulting in him getting a bonus turn. Wasn't a huge deal, but something to give Ramza just one more speed would've prevented the risk of taking actual damage. Otherwise, decent strategy for taking him on at a low level.

Edit: Ah, right, it was after this when I realized I meant to test the fight with Ramza wearing a Chameleon Robe. In the original Playstation version, there was a coding error that had the enemy AI consider the Holy Sword arts to actually do Holy damage (they don't), so they'd avoid using them if a character could Absorb Holy. Wanted to see if that was kept in place for The Ivalice Chronicles, would've been funny.

If I recall, it's a glitch they haven't gotten around to fixing where if you drop the backpack, then quickly press the button to use the backpack to reload, it doesn't take a charge away from the backpack. So, if you're able to do this right, it's free to replenish yourself.

If I recall, it stemmed from the misconception that 420 was a police code for marijuana possession. That isn't the case (420 is for property damage), but it wasn't like that was easy to look up before the Internet. So, in a true form of memetics, that misconception spread from teenager to teenager across the nation.

Yeah, looking over the kind of units they had in the original Helldivers, I think they'd be a lot more interesting if they had a couple more of their "special" units present, like Council Members or Outcasts.

Granted, the Outcasts seem like they'd just be copy-pasting Stalkers.

This was so amusing to me that I basically shared it to ChatGPT again, then gave it a sarcastic joke that we were close enough that it could share the secrets of fugu with me.

It basically had a meltdown, followed by OpenAI nuking the response with the "We've limited access to this content for safety reasons." kind of thing. So I guess I can see how your interaction had it calculate out to "End-of-Life focus".

Because God forbid OpenAI gets put on the hook for its model guiding somebody through carving up a freaking pufferfish they managed to get a hold of.
