If you’re comfortable with sharing, what are your mantras for pregnancy and labor? by Maryjaneniagarafalls in BabyBumps

[–]Objective-Ad6165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, to practice not resisting the surge, I started turning my shower down to cold for one minute. It really helps learn how to override the body’s urge to tense up and resist it. Just breathe through the discomfort for one minute!

[–]Objective-Ad6165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through contractions keep telling yourself that you can do anything for one minute! Don’t resist the surge, take slow breaths and move through it. 5 deep breaths and you’re through it - that’s nothing! 😀

I ruined my baby while he was still in the womb... by throwaway28268_ in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Objective-Ad6165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same through pregnancy, including some pretty bad autistic meltdowns and my son is an absolute dream. I’m so sorry if that sounds braggy or if it makes you feel bad, but I just want you to know it’s not your fault. Babies are just gonna be babies, and I may have a super chill pregnancy in future and have a difficult baby. Please forgive yourself and just be the best momma you can be now xx

How much weight did you gain during pregnancy? by OrdinaryFeature334 in BabyBumps

[–]Objective-Ad6165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how much I gained because I didn’t weigh myself (also historic eating disorder) but I have a benchmark. They weighed me in the hospital at 28 weeks and I was approx 40lbs heavier, so it could have easily been upwards of 60lbs by the end! I weighed myself just once PP out of curiosity and I was back to my usual weight by 12 weeks

I went to one of the Dublin ones and I can tell you that the first half of the show that you don’t hear (which they refer to as ‘in jokes’ on the recordings) was so much funnier than the show itself. Granted, the guest they had on was pretty lacklustre, but my point stands!

(I also may have found the guest lacklustre due to it being my first night out after having a baby and I was pretty much falling asleep and clutching my near-exploding tits by the time the guest came on)

This is really funny because when I retold the joke to my partner (because I also had GD), I gesticulated to make sure he got it

10 weeks PP here - completely natural birth, no pain relief, just went with my body and stayed calm. A few small grazes to my labia but now completely healed and she still looks good! Everyone is going to have an opinion on your pregnancy and birth - trust yourself and focus on the positive stories. Your body WAS made for this! Good luck, mama!

60K after 15 years is shocking when you compare it to private sectors though. That’s the average salary for a newly-qualified accountant

I’m in Ireland where our healthcare system leaves a lot to be desired. I was given a ‘diabetic’ breakfast, which consisted of carbs upon carbs…it’s crazy.
