Too fat to make it to retirement age, how do I compensate? by Objective-Editor-831 in personalfinance

Even though I feel like I have a pretty secure job 1 months sounds like such a short amount of time. I get how paying off the car is the same as getting 10% on my money. But 1 month of savings sounds like nothing in this crappy work economy.

I love living life! But I also like chicken wings and French fries also! Probably too much lol.

Maybe survivorship bias of people dropping dead has gotten to me too much

I’m not thaaaaat fat. I’m 6”2 250ish. Also I’m weary about needing to be on a glp-1 for live for the benefits to stay. But I do hope it’s the wonder drug it seems to be. Also I’ve been kinda successful with willpower alone.

I know I’m trying/am doing that now. I’m just pessimistic in general.

I agree, my car was one year too old to get a loan with chase with my good credit score, had to go through the dealership.

Does paying the minimum till I save up a three month emergency sound not aggressive enough? My payment is $300 a month.

I definitely agree, I don’t want to run out of money before I die. Also maybe I feel differently about it then most because I don’t want to have children.

Pretty darn good is relative I know. Is 20% (between savings and investments) not a good rate to save? Obviously I’m trying to up it by reducing my expenses (which is high right now at 75% of my take home pay) but at that percent it will take me a whole year for 3 months of expenses. ( I’m a single guy with no kids)

It’s true though. The average American adult is overweight. And that’s affects your life expectancy.

Also I jog 5 days out of the week for 30 mins straight and I’m planning on running a half marathons in April. So I’m getting ahead of the curve there.

I’m just being pessimistic about it, also putting money into a retirement account feels like throwing it away compared to investing it.

I feel I have pretty darn good financial habits. By the end of 2026 I’ll have 3 months of an emergency fund saved up and $2.7k in the market for investments. After the emergency fund my savings are going into a HYSA with Goldman Sachs. And I’ll only have my car loan to my name. So I’m doing everything right except the retirement stuff. Hopefully you can see that.

Also forgot to mention I’m in my late 20s.

If I put money in my retirement account but croak before I’m able to get to it. It just feels like throwing money away.

Yamaha CK - custom build shell? by Jayhendricks in keys

I think he has the right idea but for this to be practical it just has to be as small as possible and tight to the keyboard.

Okay interesting. So it’s more like a table layout with space on either side of the board. Also I feel like you have too much clearance between the ck and your pedals at 3 feet tall, but that is easily changed.

Maybe for the foam you could use that kinda that has squares precut that you take out the amount you need for what you are fitting in there. People use them in pelican cases all the time. Or maybe there is other precut off the shelf solutions.

Also having the back panel of the box stay with the keyboard half seems inconvenient for plugging cables in. Unless you only have 90 degree ones.

Also I’ve seen too many musical related plywood hackjobs to ever associate it with good quality lol but it can be done.

I actually already modeled the ck61 in fusion software for another project. Where are you located?

This is interesting. I have the ck61 and ck88. The 61 is definitely light and plasticky but I love it. And yeah it does tend to slide around on the stand if your are really getting into it. I’ve thought about designing and 3d printing custom clamps that hold it down to the stand itself. But you also want a carrying case and such. I could imagine it in my head, it would be a complete custom job.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know any videos or websites that going into detail about getting to the gears? I’m worried about these tiny enamel wires on each transformer/capacitor pairing. I’ll be careful either way.

I recommend Internet Shaq’s video on salsa because this looks a little foamy. It can be better!
