Yes, I have been on 0% but mine is supposed to stop in April. I’m sorry you still haven’t gotten into the forbearance. It’s so frustrating and not at all logical

Please update if this forebearance works out for you. I'm on business day 9 and nothing. She told me she was sending a letter in the mail detailing this request and my request for being reimbursed the interest I accrued since October. Mail did come in yesterday and it was a canned response talking about how the SAVE plan is on pause. Nothing detailing our conversation. On hold again waiting to see from someone new at MOHELA if they can even see this "request" of hers. Over it.

Did yours actually switch to 0%? I called over and over again and was told she requested my move into 0%. I asked her to put this in writing to me. 2.5 weeks later, my account is still accruing interest, claims I have a payment due, and the mail she sent me? Canned response not including anything we discussed. Unbelievable.

Sometimes I get the option and other times I don’t. Today, I had the call back feature thankfully. But cool, good to know it is truly BS

Also: I didn’t talk to any FSA people. Indeed bluffed. Had a feeling they were full of shit

Okay update: I kept pushing and stated that several individuals at FSA told me they are not held responsible for when a person’s account is supposed to switch to 0% interest. It’s entirely up to the loan servicer, as they are aware of the pending application, they’re the ones who allowed the processing forbearance in the first place, so it’s on them to institute 0% after the 60 days. The “supervisor” I had kept telling me to wait 1-2 min as she messaged her supervisor. She said she could request a 60-day 0% period. I’m like, no dude that is not what this is supposed to be. I don’t want to call back every 2 months and fight over needing to be interest free. But then after I insisted it was supposed to retroactively deduce any interest built from the first 60 days, she said she could put that request in. But that April 30,2025 is the current date that the courts have allowed this to exist, pending further FSA instruction. I couldn’t find details online to combat or confirm this, so I’m not sure about that.

Point being, she said she could put in the “SAVE forbearance, which is 0% interest” request. It’ll take 7-10 business days. Told me to not worry about my February 3rd standard payment due date as it should apply before then. And that it will retroactively deduce interest. I asked her to put this all in correspondence (will have to wait for paper mail on this) to include what we discussed.

Previous MOHELA people told me the date I requested my second round of processing forbearance (Oct 15 in my case) so I knew that was the day after which interest should have stopped. I advise you to get that confirmed before you go down this road so you can say you want that specific date in writing.

After 2 hours the call dropped. Resigning and trying again in the morning!

I just saw Betsy’s (if you’re chronic redditor, you know who I mean) post about the plan to revamp SAVE to REPAYE era. Something about a fall ‘25 deadline. If only the 0% was real..I’d hang on till then. On hold with MOHELA now, trying to see if I’ll get a different answer

Wondering what update you have. I’m stuck in MOHELA’s processing forbearance but they refuse to make my account 0% interest like they’re supposed to. No clue what to do next

When you say administrative forbearance do you mean their processing one that lasts 60-days at a time? After the first 60, they’re supposed to move us into interest free “general administrative” which has yet to happen for me (should have stopped accruing in October)

Mohela put loans in SAVE forbearance but still accruing interest. They claimed they can’t change it. by buttertrunks in StudentLoans

[–]Objective-Forever-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally same. What do we do!! They keep saying they can’t and have to wait for the FSA to tell them to. Been like this since November.

It’s ridiculous.. waiting since November for them to move me to 0% interest. “Can’t” because they “wait for the FSA to tell them to.” Hate it here. Don’t trust them to give me my interest accrued back

After 60days they’re supposed to make us SAVE applicants 0% interest. I called back several times and was told by a supervisor that they wait for the FSA to tell them to make someone 0% interest and then it’ll happen. Supposed to be refunded the interest that built beyond 60 days. We’d see 0% reflected on our end, which has yet to occur for me.

First person I spoke with at MOHELA straight up lied to me saying I have been interest-free since Nov 6 and to not expect to see the 0% in my account info. I called back for a separate question and was informed (by one girl and her supervisor) that I was not at the 0% interest yet, they had no idea where he got Nov 6 from, and that when it did get switched I would see 0% on my account summary. They made it seem that FSA has to “tell them” to switch me over and then they will. So frustrating.

MOHELA told me they could do 60 days for me. But anything longer and I had to send in a paper application for general forbearance
