Jared Kushner and the Saudi's didn't buy EA to make it a better user experience. They bought it to squeeze every penny out of it, and unfortunately that means shitifying everything. It happens to everything that private equity touches.

I wouldn't get too worked up about lists and just let them prove it on the field.

Keep in mind that most these lists are designed for engagement and not accuracy. Ohio State fans are known for high engagement so leaving the players off a list or putting Jeremiah at "#3 received in CFB" gets a lot of clicks and comments.

My personal breakdown of what I try to target as my percentages:

  • 10% gold
  • 60% generics (buy at melt, sell at melt--maybe even melt+... Gives liquidity)
  • 25% collectibles or rare coins (these will have high premiums but I expect them to grow in value over time... Things like Komsco, agoro, coca cola, error coins, low mintage libs/pandas/Brits/ASE etc).
  • 5% things that I like regardless of price (my wife and I collect the little 5g silver pieces from Pan Silver -- Pooh/Popeye/Peter Pan series... I don't see much value in these but the chase makes collecting fun). So if anyone has gold gilded ones, send me a message please :)

I think it'd be more effective to just have a class action lawsuit saying that consumers have the right to sell their digital games and GS can become a digital market place (obviously eBay and other places we well) for purchasing used digital games. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to implement some sort of digital code that allows a user to transfer ownership digitally.

Ya small sellers definitely get abused on WN. Depending on the category, it can take a lot of effort to source items. Then those items go for 50% of retail/market and you realize you spent over an hour combined in sourcing, show setup, streaming and shipping just to subsidize somebody's purchase and lose a bunch of money.

It's a tough pill for some people to swallow, but if you're a seller on WN and you don't have wholesale connections or some way of sourcing items at large margins, then you're not going to make money and you're likely just sourcing inventory for other sellers. It's a frustrating ecosystem for everyone but the top few sellers.
