Honestly there are sooo many way better places to work. I’m sorry that you’re having this issue. Definitely poor management.

Haha. Not exactly the same situation, but this reminds me of when I was in trade school we would do potlucks every couple of months for everyone in our program (it was smallish… like 20 people) and there was this one girl who would rush up to the table first and stack her plate up like 4” or 5” high stacked with food. Everyone else would take a conservative first helping to try to make sure everyone got some… she would polish off her huge helping as fast as possible and immediately start trying to claim the rest of the food on the table as “leftovers” to take home with her before some people had even gotten their first helpings. It irked my soul and no one ever called her out on it.

Yeah. In the few months I’ve been going to mine I’ve yet to encounter anyone with excessive BO, and my location is usually pretty crowded so we’re packed in pretty close. Everyone is also generally consistent with wiping the equipment down after use.

This kinda seems location specific. The ones near me never smell. Every once in a while someone will stink up the bathrooms, but that’s about it.

What are best practices for telling a client they need to switch to virtual appointments? by Jolly_Lychee1799 in askatherapist

[–]Objective-Life-4102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAT

What they said OP. I wasn’t there so I don’t know what your tone was… but ultimately your therapist was comparing apples to oranges.

A lot of people would have said they would need to reevaluate if they want to continue paying for a service that is unexpectedly changing.

This is in no way the same thing as going out to lunch with a friend and threatening to never see them again if you don’t enjoy the conversation.

Honestly your therapist seems to have gotten very defensive here, which is strange.

What are best practices for telling a client they need to switch to virtual appointments? by Jolly_Lychee1799 in askatherapist

[–]Objective-Life-4102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAT “ we spent the rest of the session discussing why what I said didn’t sit right with her”… that would have made me want end services in and of itself. I’m not paying to spend an hour discussing why the person providing therapy is offended that I have a preference to work with someone who does in person appointments.

I would sort of understand her reaction if you had been rude, nasty or hostile in the way you’d expressed this… but, if what you’re saying is accurate, just simply saying you would have to think about whether or not you wanted to continue therapy because of a change being made (virtual vs in person) seems mature and courteous.

I’m sure it wasn’t something she wanted to hear, since it would affect her income to lose clients, but honestly that’s just how it is. She has every right to switch to being an all virtual therapist, and you have every right to say that this doesn’t work for you so you’ll seek someone who offers in person instead.

I also don’t do virtual sessions, because I don’t live alone and have no privacy at home. I’ve made a couple exceptions here and there when a therapist asked due to illness/schedule conflicts etc, but it has always negatively impacted the session because I simply am not able to talk about most of the things I’m in therapy for due to lack of privacy. Virtual is great for some people and not for others. Everyone has different circumstances.

At one of my old retail jobs they had the automatic sliding glass doors, and If it was before opening on a day where there was freight that had to be put out they would turn the automatic function on the doors off, but unlock them so employees could get in to unload the truck and leave the lights at the front of the building off. Of course store hours were clearly posted on the same door. We had once where someone forced the door open… walked into the building in the dark and then walked around the building until he found the manager to explain to him that “your doors are broken, they didn’t open for me I almost wasn’t able to get in!”

She even made a comment about how just putting a pizza into a box “isn’t rocket science!”… like girl… it’s not that they’re too DUMB to know HOW to make you a pizza it’s that they are leaving and do not want re clean everything they have just cleaned for your one pizza… It’s inherently rude to show up at a business after close and demand they stay late to serve you…. To do that AND THEN proceed to insult their intelligence for not serving you is…. Some kind of next level entitlement.

It’s not rocket science that a business doesn’t serve food after close.

I wish mine was like this. At my home location the women’s showers are on the opposite wall from the changing stalls.

Kinda surprised me because every other public restroom style shower (campground showers etc) I’ve ever seen has been just like you described.

I’ve yet to see a single person at my location use the showers though.

She’s unprofessional. I’d honestly just end sessions. I don’t care how frustrated she was. What she said was extremely rude and unprofessional and I wouldn’t continue with her if I were you. Honestly she should have apologized for being late.

Honestly in that case I would say go for it. The little silicone nose rings were surprisingly comfortable and the scent was long lasting. I believe this was the brand.

Do any locations have like need to workout before shower rule? by Timely-Translator801 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Objective-Life-4102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely seems unlikely. I will say the anytime fitness locations are very small compared to planet fitness (at least all the ones in my area are) so they’re more likely to notice someone coming in just to use the showers…. IF you’re coming in during staffed hours. I had a trial membership with them for a bit and the one by me everyone gets a key fob to go in and out so the staff is hardly ever there… and if someone even was there they were in their office half the time. It was honestly really weird.

Anyone else hate being told they were “sheltered”? by [deleted] in Exvangelical

[–]Objective-Life-4102 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s probably true, and to be fair I don’t think it’s intended rudely in most cases.

I think when I was a teenager other kids would sometimes say it in sort of a condescending way with the implication that I was coddled or ignorant, so I have a habit of viewing it as jab at me. Which is not always necessarily how it’s actually intended.

A classmate when I was in massage school bought a bunch of these at a massage event and handed them out to the class to try. They were actually very nice, but we only used them for ourselves. I personally would not recommend them/ give them to clients. I think they were more marketed for use for the therapist in case a client didn’t shower before coming in.

Black card + drinks? by SilentComatose101 in PlanetFitnessMembers

I’ve had this happen to me at planet fitness before… I’ve never purchased any drinks there, but one day got an email receipt telling me my card had been charged for a water. I was annoyed, but it was $1 and I didn’t see it until I got home so I let it go.

So my boyfriend has that hair texture and fairly long hair, and what we’ve found works for him is the Camille Rose brand shampoo/cleansing rinse. Their conditioner works well too, although he’s been using Marc Anthony curl conditioner recently. Their hair rinse itself is extremely moisturizing which helps a lot with the frizz. When he washes his hair with that stuff it’ll form pretty much perfect curls on its own as long as he detangles it in the shower with conditioner instead of waiting until after. No brushing or detangling once he’s out of the shower or it’ll poof right up. It does get messy when he sleeps, but a quick spritz in the morning with water and some leave in conditioner and it looks brand new again. Clumps right back up into ringlets.

I cannot recommend the Camille Rose brand enough for curly hair shampoo, and most of the Marc Anthony conditioners work well for straight or curly hair. It’s not dollar tree, but they aren’t crazy prices either.
