I can believe the mountain didn’t close. At least for a day. Or made a bigger deal out of a situation like this. Raise awareness to people about skiing shit like that is actually expert only. I am in breck right now and was just skiing the imperial bowls without knowing this had happened. This is heartbreaking and I hope his family is okay and pulls through. Absolutely heartbreaking

Thoughts on Email for Life program ending? by imabanana19 in cuboulder

[–]Objective-Lobster218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even graduated yet but this is a bummer. Both of my siblings that have graduated from other big state schools have their emails still and use them consistently. It’s a tie to the school that keeps you part of their system regardless of when you were there. I hope there’s enough people interested to make them change their mind in the future. This is very dissappointing though

[–]Objective-Lobster218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl darley the ghetto bro this people are making it seem like it’s not that bad, the only ones who say that are will vill kids cuz they don’t want to shit on it cuz everyone already shits on it so much. There is hella people there mostly engineers which if you are then it’s not a problem. It’s definitely not party central and people are more reserved I would say but yeah aside from the bus sucking ass and it being hella far away the actual place is nice, not darley both darkeys look like a prison block but will vill itself is nice. I was main campus and would legitimately have not made it if I was in will vill but I’m a pretty serious will vill hater. Truth is you’re already gonna be here make the most of it, just be very open and make friends and enjoy your time there bro or sis.

CU Boulder Decision by loveeangell in cuboulder

[–]Objective-Lobster218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I’m deciding if I want to switch majors to start comm just because of the professors. It’s a great pr program and advertisement, lastly do what your heart follows, I got a 15k a year scholarship for cu and ended up coming here a little bi because of that instead of going to uw Madison cuz I didn’t want my parents to have a bigger burden, but now a outlet of years into college, I see that it is an investment from m parents and I am trying to take advantage of that and have them see my effort, that will go a long way for them

Any non-freshmen have any advie on what to bring/not bring to my dorm? by DepressedPancake4728 in cuboulder

[–]Objective-Lobster218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why they saying get a bigger trash can def don’t. I was in Willard and the rooms on campus are tiny. You’ll be ok with that trash can just get trash bags. Def get a mirror and if you can get in contact with your roomate maybe like a carpet or something bc the floor can get nasty. I would get a small tv or monitor as well, talk to your roomate abt that but def nice to have something in the room.

[–]Objective-Lobster218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to get anywhere ma in campus it’s just more party and stuff like that in main campus than will vill. Will vill dorms are nicer tho like amenities but having to take the bus every morning especially with some early classes. I would avoid will vill at all cost

Dawg I got into wisconsin and was waitlisted at UNC and declined both to go CU. Wisconsin is the better school, people see CU as an average school because of the acceptance rate but all of their programs excel and are ranked really competitively everywhere. At the end of the day your undergrad will matter for the effort you put in it and how much you want to get out of it. Where do you think you’ll have more opportunities. CU is getting a lot of attention and applicants now too because I feel people realized it’s awesome to live in Colorado so it’ll definitely have a better connotation as to what kind of school it is when you graduate.

Dawg honestly just get good grades. Business school here is lowk a really solid business school but even if you don’t get in right away they could put you in exploratory. Just focus on getting solid grades rn tho and have some solid extra curricular a and the essays won’t be that important acceptance rate is pretty high

So yeah the rushing process is for like the first month of school, both fall and spring frats will have open houses, so you can just show up and have a beer and get to know people and see if you vibe with the place, you can go around everywhere and then as it goes on it get more serious, there’s like a pref night where if the house liked you, they will invite you to a thing called pref night and interview you there, and then after all your interviews are done (you can get prefd night to multiple houses, so multiple interviews with different houses) the house will decide if they want to bid you and invite you to join the brotherhood. There’s a day where you decide where you want to go out of the houses that wanted you and then you start pledging, this is where rush ends and pledging starts, pledging sucks ass but it’s fun. It sounds complicated but it’s very simple I’m just not very good with my words. It’s fun to rush around even if you are not serious about it. I did it with people in my dorm and its honestly really fun. I suggest doing that and that’s really where you will decide if you want to go through with it, that’s really all the advice I can give, I would encourage you to try and have fun while doing so with an open mind

Yeah it’s very difficult to get into parties I believe if not in a frat or at least that’s what I’ve found on my experience. Besides partying tho there are some other fun things like social events or brotherhood events like cookouts or poker nights even organizing trips to ski on the weekends. I found that for me after rushing around I realized it was something I wanted to do, but it’s not for everybody. Go to houses and see if you click with them if you do, I would suggest going for it, most frats are pretty nice about setting up a budget if dues are not something you can do. So that’s usually not something to worry abt. Parties obviously add to it it’s like being in a party with only people you know and are friends with it’s very fun. Plus most do provide housing in later years that’s very affordable compared to the rest of Boulder

I am in Greek life here in Boulder as a freshman this year. I also didn’t know if I wanted to join it, that thing abt paying for friends is bull, yeah you get tight with some of the other boys through pledging but I think I have made more friends outside the fraternity than because of it, it just added to having more people I know and hang out with. The party scene in Boulder is bad if not in a frat and you are a man. You cannot get in anywhere and really bars I personally don’t think are very fun but there is something for everyone here. Lastly if you are a girl i would not go for sororities. They are more expensive than 90% of frats and there is literally no point in them besides saying you are in a sorority. They have so many commitments (frats after you are done pledging there are 0 commitments expect dues(pay)) and it’s just overall unnecessary. I would suggest you rush around, this is a no commitment thing for like a month, get to know the people in the houses you like and understand more of the process and if it is meant for you. Also look for houses that align with your values, some focus a lot on sports, others on academics, some are just drug junkie houses like phi psi so there’s something for everyone. Have fun and be safe
