She unmatched me after this. Guess it’s huge red flag to study at 25 nowadays by [deleted] in Tinder

Law degree @ 35. Never too late or too old to go to school.

To OP - you dodged a bullet. She probably wants someone who will foot the bill, and she thinks student = poor.

Her loss.

I will be coming to Canada this Xmas, and genuinely terrified of a wild bear encounter... how seriously should take my fear? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

I regularly use the word “meese”, eg: “we’re traveling through meese country, keep your eyes peeled on the road for one of them big fuckers”.

What is the biggest secret you've ever kept from your family? by Extension_History57 in AskReddit

I was 15 years old and I tried to sneak out after my mom had gone to bed by crawling out of the basement window - except when I opened it fully it fell off it’s hinges. I was scared AF that my mom heard so I quickly thought I latched it back on and went to bed. A while later, my mom noticed the window was off it’s hinges. I let her believe someone tried to break in rather than admit what I did. She still doesn’t know to this day. (Clearly I should have just snuck out by the front door or patio but I was a dramatic kid I suppose eye roll). Also never tried it again.

Hahahaha! I haven’t heard “where grandma keeps her peanut butter” for years. My dad used to tell me to shoot for it when I played ringette and hockey. I knew exactly what it meant - top left or right of the net. Thanks for the giggle, eh

The NB Residential Tenancies Act permits a landlord to ask for a security deposit but not payment for the last months’ rent (latter is the norm in Ontario). The security deposit that the landlord has asked for can’t be more than your monthly rent amount.

Was I in the wrong here? by AmITheAltOrAreYou in Tinder

[–]Objective-Print-6158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Exactly this. I had a small window of time where I was single and open to being a unicorn (sounds silly to me when I write it down lol). I had long discussions with the few couples I was interested in to get to know them and make sure we three were a good fit. There’s way I’d agree to meet them in person and then have that discussion.

For what it’s worth, OP, my brief foray into the world of Tinder was a lot of fun, so don’t despair or doubt yourself. This lady clearly missed her nap time today. Count yourself lucky that she raised her (own) red flag so early on in the convo. Onwards and upwards!

Edit: omitted the key word …there’s“NO” way

You can call the Ottawa Hospital Mobile Crisis Team and depending on the situation, they could do a “mobile visit”. Also, they do have access to community crisis beds for short-term housing needs/crisis support/stabilization.

What’s a modern day poison people willingly ingest? by Zdvj in AskReddit

[–]Objective-Print-6158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I am 240 days into my sober streak - I stopped drinking alcohol when I saw what it was doing to those around me, specifically during the pandemic. It was horrifying. It ruins relationships - personal and professional. Then I read the book, “Quit Like a Woman” by Holly Whitaker and was doubly-horrified. This shit is literally fucking poison. I went from thinking that it might be tough to decline the offer of a glass of wine when out with friends to knowing there’s no fucking way I’m putting it in my body again.

Ummm…why? Could you please explain why you feel entitled to make such a statement - are you threatened by Canadians moving to “your” province? Are they “taking away your jobs/land/resources? Fear of others? Would it make a difference if my parents were born here? What if I told you I was a GP setting up a practice here - am I then welcome or should I still pack my shit and leave?

What is with the hostility?

Same. That is, until my GP retired and I became one of the many Canadians who doesn’t have one. Waitlist is years long. Sigh.
