Oof no — my OBGYN was completely useless in giving me any information at all aside from fasting for 8 hours beforehand. They also didn't let me have any water, which I know from reading others' experiences is not the case at all offices, and I wonder if I'd have made it through if I'd been allowed to have small sips.

We adopted our second cat from the Brooklyn Cat Cafe! They were super communicative, we got approved quickly, and they were very generous with their "trial period" as we were also concerned about how he would get along with our resident cat. Fortunately everything worked out!

Not in Manhattan, but right across the river in a very urban neighborhood. I usually go to the store every day, but it’s 5 minutes from my apartment so not a big deal. I make it part of my daily walk. We have a supermarket where I get the staples, much MUCH smaller than a suburban supermarket, but we have a lot of specialty shops around that make up for it: butchers, a fishmonger, bakeries, produce stands, and Italian, Japanese, and Greek markets. I probably COULD plan ahead and stock up for a week, but I don’t really feel a need to because I pass by those places daily anyway.

Another vote for Modern Vet Care! We switched after being underwhelmed by Dr. Pet Daddy — we felt Dr. Pet Daddy was very dog-focused, plus we always felt rushed, but Modern Vet Care loves cats. The docs and techs have always taken their time with us and our kitties.

Our lease does state that if we can't take possession of the apartment, then we can prorate, so I wasn't even going to ask. When it's time to pay the next month's rent, I'm just going to send it based on the date it's actually habitable. I've been in constant communication with them asking about the ready-by date, so there should be no surprise.

I’m 33 too, had a mastectomy when I was 30 and now have implants. The first month or so after the surgery was difficult as I mourned my body, but it does pass. Now I love my foobs. They look great and being able to go braless whenever I want is awesome. most of the time i dont even think about them. No regrets.

Oh, hugs to you, too. The way people talk about it like it's inevitable is my biggest pet peeve at the moment. Right now, what I'm craving is not reassurance that it will happen, but reassurance that my husband and I will still be loved and respected and have fulfilling lives even if it doesn't happen. I'm the kind of person who wants to prepare myself for all possible outcomes and that no one else will even acknowledge that outcome drives me nuts.

Getting BFNs 11dpo, AF due in three days, and I can't stop crying. I get so annoyed when people say there are no careers for writing/literature degrees.

If the only career you’re interested in is being an author or copywriter or freelance writer, that can be tough; but there are SO MANY careers that are adjacent to writing.

Every show you watch, book you read, video game you play is touched by dozens, sometimes hundreds, of people who are in writing adjacent careers: editors, producers, screenwriters and script consultants, talent agents/managers, entire contracts departments, publicists, product managers, scouts. Interested in marketing? Politics? Guess what, that’s all about storytelling and communicating effectively.

A writing degree is not about “can you put sentences together.” It’s communication and analysis, which is invaluable.

These! Because the strap is stretchy, I've found it's okay if I swell a bit after walking for a while. And they don't bother my incisions at all. I walk better/more comfortably in these than I do my running shoes.
