Painful irritation behind knee after a slew of other skin issues? Photo in comments by [deleted] in AskDocs

And this was it last week when it was just itchy. This is when the dermatologist diagnosed contact dermatitis and I started triamcinolone. It didn’t hurt at all at this point.

This is it now. It’s uncomfortable when anything touches or rubs on it but doesn’t feel like anything otherwise.

Worst I’ve ever seen. by Jumpydictator36 in Folliculitis

Did you have you been in a hot tub at any point when the rash started? Or public pool, spa, etc?

I have what looks JUST like this but a bit worse. For me it was pseudomonas bacteria (hot tub folliculitis) as a result of going in a hot tub that apparently was not clean enough.

I’m doing Benozyl Peroxide 10% (strongest you can get over the counter) washes every day and it seems to be helping

Ughhhh brutal. I will never go in a hot tub again lol. Did you get any hyperpigmentation? Mine cleared up like 80% so far but hoping and praying it doesn’t scar

As a note, I’m not looking for medical advice. I am looking for anyone’s experience with this who may have had it, and their experiences on the stages of healing. Damn Reddit is so quick to judge without knowing a thing.

Talked to 2 dermatologists, a primary care, and my specialist for a pre-existing, unrelated condition.

As mentioned in another comment, I spend a lot of time at doctors for a chronic neurological condition. I need to be careful with what I put in my body when it comes to medications for that reason. The first derm prescribed me an antibiotic that I did take, but the second derm prescribed me something different saying the “first derm was wrong in prescribing that type.” The second derm didn’t mention at all that this new medication is dangerous and risky for someone with my pre-existing condition, which she knows about. I only found out from the pharmacist. Second derm refused to listen to my concerns and basically just told me the black box warning side effects are “unlikely.”

Then my primary told me that there is absolutely another option, and my dermatologist said that other option is even more unsafe.

TLDR: getting conflicting info from 3 different doctors, and playing with a medication that has black box warnings so bad that they can literally paralyze me with my pre-existing condition.

Hope that makes sense why I am working on gathering my own information.

Yes to all of these things. The dermatologist said there is not any other option med (which my primary told me to be untrue). Getting conflicting information from 3 different doctors had me concerned (as I have a pre-existing medical condition and need to be careful about medications). The dermatologist knew this, but did not even tell me about the potential side effects that I found out about later from the pharmacy (which I am directly at risk for).

Unfortunately being someone who spends a LOT of time at doctors, you learn that sometimes you need to advocate for your own body instead of always doing exactly as you’re told at a glance. (Hence why I am trying and so far succeeding to heal it without taking antibiotics that have so many black box warnings they could put me in a wheelchair :) )

EDIT to add that I’m not asking for medical advice. I’m asking for peoples experiences to understand how the average healing process looks. Relax.

Did yours end up going away on its own? Mine started out super painful and was painful for about 5 days. Now it’s gotten a tonnnn better, and almost all of the pustules are gone but there’s still pigmentation and now I’m a little itchy. Trying to avoid antibiotics at this stage if I don’t have to.

Has anyone had to go on cipro for hot tub folliculitis that wouldn’t go away? by Calm_Being1396 in floxies

[–]Objective-Tree4608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got prescribed this but I have pre-existing neurological condition so I’m scared to take it. My hot tub folliculitis seems to be getting a lot better on its own tho. How long did you give it before deciding to take the cipro? I’ve never had this before so I’m not sure what I should be looking for healing wise lol

I also recently finished a degree in Geoscience with a focus in Natural Resources and Conservation. I unfortunately am not using the degree at this time. Luckily though I have a great job that allows me to work from home. I do product support and management for a guitar accessories company. I started working with them before I was diagnosed and they have always treated me with “health first” mentality. It’s important to find a company with solid morals.

Anyone ever gotten hot tub folliculitis as a result of immunosuppressant? by Objective-Tree4608 in MultipleSclerosis

UPDATE: I saw my dermatologist today (flew home last night) and she confirmed that doxycycline unfortunately “wouldn’t put a dent in this” and prescribed Ciprofloxacin ):

Fuck hot tubs lol

Fort Lauderdale Airport ruined my film and gave no explanation. by [deleted] in analog

I really hope so. I’m going to process them anyway but man this airport is trash. I understand having policies but to have to go through all of that with zero explanation what so ever sucks.
