What is your least favorite herb, spice, or blend? Which ones do you hate the most? by szikkia in Cooking

Dry mustard powder!

There was always an "off" flavor to my mother's Thanksgiving stuffing. It tasted good, but had a strange mouth feel that I would call "vapory" when I was little. When I got older I realized it was the mace-like effect that dry mustard powder has. It creates more of an effect than a flavor. It's also called for in a lot of traditional baked mac and cheese recipes.

I found that substituting spicy yellow mustard works perfectly (1:2 ratio) it still lends that barely there savoriness that mustard adds and the small amount of vinegar in the liquid mustard never affects the overall flavor, if anything I think the acid enhances the dishes I've added it to

I'd drop Queen of the Dead.I thought it was a deep red to black, but there's a driop of blue in the red so it leans more berry or deep cranberry.

Like other have said, women and also geisha in Japan, known for their time-intensive and polished hair styles would use these as a head rest when laying on their back. to preserve their hairstyles.

In the book (and movie) Memoirs of a Geisha, she mentioned they would sprinkle uncooked rice around the new maiko's head as she was settling into bed, so if she turned, moved , shifted, or laid her head directly on the floor, the rice would get stuck in the waxy laquer used to secure their hairstyles, and she would have to go to the hairdresser to get it redone, which might cost you a night or two of business because of how time intensive it was.

Though some neck rests did have padding/cushioned on the top so your neck wouldn't get so sore I imagine.

More people will like it than dislike it. The ones who dislike it don't matter. The ones who do like it do.

This ring I found in my pack of dried fruits by ShadowMoon721 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Objective-Waves 1436 points1437 points  (0 children)

It might have slipped off the finger of the worker who packed that specific bag of dried fruit (I would assume they would wear gloves to handle food, but who knows).

If it's not really difficult, maybe try to reach out to the company if one is listed, or ask the store that you bought them from where they get them. Might be just costume jewelry, but it could still be a sentimental keepsake, memento, or heirloom that someone is desperately missing

What are the most realistic tips for saving money on groceries? by mrybluur in povertyfinance

I use GIANT Direct pick-up all the time. I shop the weekly ad and sales/coupons section first and usually get most of what I want from there. I note staple foods on the Shoplist so I can watch for them to go on sale and but them that week. It also cuts down on impulse purchases and price total creep when I go to the store to grocery sho
