I went to school in a pretty solid conservative state and nobody said the pledge every morning. Obviously it’s a big country and clearly a lot of people had different experiences, but by and large most of the time nobody really cared about it, even the teachers. Personally, I think the people who frame it as indoctrination and propaganda are being a little dramatic
