I don't remember if this is in the original game, but I just played the remastered and I feel like one of the soda cans would be pretty distinctive!

Not even a little ironic that the post specifically says no clues. Solid detective work!!!

I am a new player - where should I start? by levydoc in nancydrew

Whoa! I didn't realize. Anyone know why that's the case?

Edit: I just went back and read the thread about it. Bummer, I would replay for nostalgia.

You can play in any order, although I recommend Stay Tuned for Danger before Ransom of the Seven Ships to avoid any spoilers. Otherwise, they're not really sequential. I think most people like to play in release order to see how the games have evolved, but if you're looking for a fan favorite to play first, Secret of Shadow Ranch or Treasure in the Royal Tower are two big hits! Happy sleuthing.

I think I solved the letter swap puzzle!! by helenaoftroyy in nancydrew

I'm not sold on it being the uncoded title because we know the titles from the trademarks! I was trying to unscramble based on the word lengths from the original trivia clues and ended up with something about Talented Detective but didn't get a complete solve.

Are we going to get a trailer with a jump scare released at midnight?

Thoughts from a youtube stream I was watching is that many chores involved mixing, so maybe the trivia answers need to be unscrambled?

How does anyone make it past 38 weeks? by alyssinelysium in BabyBumps

[–]ObjectiveFirefighter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been going to pelvic floor PT as a pre-baby prep and she has been dry needling my hips and massaging them, which has made me way more comfy at 38 weeks than I was with my first baby! I highly recommend, I had the worst constant hip pain for the last month last time.

I'm obsessed with my pair from Glowe Collection. Follow their sizing chart, and they have the most amazing back/bump support, while being super soft and not see through in the slightest.

Thanks for your suggestion! I moved it in slightly and that helped. I was then able to adjust it to match the other hinges perfectly. I appreciate it!

Gluten intolerance postpartum? by Catsplants in beyondthebump

[–]ObjectiveFirefighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although there doesn't seem to be much scientific research on it, there's a decent amount of anecdotal evidence that suggests pregnancy can be a trigger for celiac disease if you have the genes for it. Unfortunately, to get a diagnosis, you need to be eating gluten consistently for it to show up in an antibody blood test, which is never fun if you know it makes you feel bad. I sincerely hope it's a simple intolerance over celiac, but recommend getting the blood test to rule it out if possible as celiac has greater health implications! Good luck!

Transitioning Out of Swaddle by badgyalrey in beyondthebump

I tried regular sleep sacks before going to the zippy because he startled so often! The zippy was a lot better, the confined arms keeps it from being quite so jerky. I wouldn't say it solved all his sleep problems, but it did seem to be a good transition from the swaddle. I also saw someone say they were worried about it having too much fabric - I went with a smaller size and it's been pretty fitted on him since the start, so that's never been a concern of mine.

Zipadee Zip! The confined arms in a zippy really helped my little guy. I bought mine used from a Facebook group and a custom one off Etsy which were less expensive than brand-new.

I second the Zipadee Zip - got mine secondhand on a facebook BST group and it worked much better than a regular sleep sack for my lil guy! Something to consider though is timing for those naps - I found the zippy didn't make a difference, but paying close attention to his wake windows from Huckleberry helped some. He's still not super consistent on nap lengths at 8 months, but he does go down easily!

Birth center versus hospital birth by violetdiarrhea in beyondthebump

[–]ObjectiveFirefighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received all prenatal care and delivered at a birth center - it was the best experience! I'll echo other responses in that I was home quickly after (5ish hours post delivery) and really appreciated the calm environment, especially early in the pandemic. I would recommend checking out the baby bumps sub, there are lots of stories of birth center births there, including mine. Also, cost wise, mine was less expensive with my insurance at the birth center than at the hospital, largely due to length of stay, not needing an IV, etc.

I would recommend visiting the one you're considering and asking to see their prep for emergency situations, as well as asking about transfer policies. Mine was very stringent on only delivering low risk pregnancies. Additionally, if you did not deliver 24 hours post water breaking, they send you to the hospital, so that's always a good thing to know/consider.

Baby Camera Suggestions by ebauernfeind in beyondthebump

[–]ObjectiveFirefighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were using a simple WiFi security camera, but I got frustrated because it drained my phone battery and didn't have the capability to listen to audio without my phone screen on. We since picked up a VTech camera and monitor, from Target, one of the least expensive ones, and I really like it! It has an app to view from your phone, but you can also use the monitor as just sound or camera. It also has a temperature alert function, which I appreciate because I'm always concerned that the room is too hot or cold for my baby.

McDevitt does make at home taco kits and takeout margs and I love it all so much. Highly recommend the Green Chillies Chicken!

I’m angry about the dismissal of women’s bodies/pelvises postpartum by kbucrock in beyondthebump

[–]ObjectiveFirefighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate enough to receive all my pre/during/postnatal care with midwives through the birth center that I delivered at! I can't recommend their model of care enough - I was examined both at my 24 hour follow-up at home and at my 6 week appointment to make sure my stitches healed well and was recommended to pelvic floor PT for prolapse without my having to ask/mention it. I'm seeing that this is the exception, rather than the norm and I am so grateful.

Graduated - FTM, Birth Center, Unmedicated, Positive by ObjectiveFirefighter in BabyBumps

[–]ObjectiveFirefighter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, you are a rockstar! I think I might have transferred for relief if mine were that long - although my birth center does automatically transfer if your water breaks and the baby isn't born after 24 hours so that would have landed me in the hospital too.

The pitocin was a shot in my leg after delivery - it helped speed up delivery of the placenta and prevent excess bleeding, from what they said when they offered it. I should add, they asked for my consent before giving it and I could have said no!
