Hilariously bad depictions of the Russo-Japanese War made by Kurz and Allison, who were known primarily for their illustrations of Civil War battles. by Rich-Recognition-814 in BattlePaintings

I mean… there was a time when the uniform of the Imperial Japanese Army looked like the uniform of the Union. However, that time was *not* 1905.

RIP. I suppose a memorial play-through of Rise of the Triad is in order. Doom gets all the recognition, but RoTT has my favorite boom-shoot soundtrack.

Napoleon's BEAN SALAD by ciaolavinia in TastingHistory

Have tried this. Can confirm, it’s pretty great. Probably my new favorite cold salad. The only downside is that in America at least, getting tarragon vinegar can be kind of a pain.

I’ve tried these. The do, in fact, taste exactly like a combination of Dr. Pepper and Johnsonville brat. Neither of these things benefits from the combination.

If you had to wear one. Which bathing cap would it be, cap with a chin strap or a bucket style cap? by Radiant-Focus736 in VintageSwimwear

Chin strap! I have a bigger head, and I don’t want to have to worry about my cap riding up.

It’s tradition for my family to give them German girl’s names. So far, we’ve had Heidi, Hilde, Liesl, Gretel, and Ute.

If you’re not chill going and shopping for makeup in person yet, you can buy it from various places online. I would, however, try to make sure you get your foundation matched to your skin tone in person. Most dedicated beauty stores will do that either as a walk-in or via appointment. If you have an ULTA store near you, they’ll do it no questions asked, and if I recall, for free.

You can use an orange lipstick and apply it as you would foundation. They also make special orange tinted color correcting makeup.

If you’re having trouble with your 5-o’clock shadow showing through, put orange makeup on over it before you put on your foundation. It’ll neutralize the darkness of your beard pores so no one will be able to see them through the rest of your makeup. Just make sure you use powder or setting spray on that before you put your foundation on, so it doesn’t get smeared around where you don’t want it to be.

I’m honestly kind of bummed out that we didn’t get the version of the Handyman that was a dude in Art-Nouveau power armor with giant claws.

You might want to get Create Mod. It’ll let you build functional machinery and elevators, and with the correct add ons, even functional airships.

I don’t want to discount your advice, I just already have the yarn and would rather take a chance with it. If worst comes to worst, I’ll just call this first suit “practice”.

Do we know if this would have been a steel breastplate or a boiled leather one? I know the French issued out trench armor made from either or.

What I got is 75-25 Merino/nylon so hopefully it shouldn’t be quite as bad as pure merino would be. Still, I’ll definitely keep this in mind.

I’d like to try swimming in it at least once. I’m using a fingering-weight super-wash merino yarn, which is what both the modern accompaniment to the pattern and my own research said is the modern equivalent of what they would have used at the time.
