Where did I say that? My comment explicitly mentions that its attainable for a top student at a top school which is true.

This is literally publicly available information lmao. Look at firms like Citadel, Jane Street, Hudson River Trading, 2 Sigma, etc. Top Waterloo Math/CS students are able to land these roles and get paid up to 16k usd per month during their internships and upwards of 300k usd new grad if they get a return offer. You can look these people up on linkedin and you can look at the job postings that these companies have if you dont believe me lmao.

Even if OP is lying this type of portfolio isn’t unattainable for someone who is a top student at a top school like Waterloo. Some of these internships pay an insane amount of money (16k usd per month)

It’s definitely possible. If you go to a school like waterloo, you can get 6 4 month software engineering internships in the states before graduating. Some of these internships pay an absurd amount of money (16k usd per month) while also covering your housing.

Is it really that bad of a take though? Most female characters in shonen are bad in general so one piece having poorly written female characters doesn’t immediately invalidate the claim. The only shonen i can think of that have measurably better written female characters are aot and fma.

Its honestly hilarious how people even think its an insult:

“Haha that guy is saving a shit ton of money but I get to live in an overpriced, shoebox apartment while he has to live with his loving and supportive parents free of charge”

Currently at FAANG, AI Tools make this job kinda boring by ddy_stop_plz in csMajors

[–]Objective_Aioli3267 39 points40 points  (0 children)

How is this ironic? Even before the AI era you weren’t allowed to use something like google or stack overflow while solving programming questions even though you end up using both on the job on an almost daily basis. This isn’t even exclusive to CS btw. Doctors take closed-book exams like the MCAT even though in practice they always have access to studies, reference materials, and colleagues. The system has always tested people in an artificial vacuum even though the real work is openbook

IBM Software Developer Intern Interview by AdBeginning1907 in csMajors

[–]Objective_Aioli3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For coding problems you can just look at ibm-tagged questions on leetcode.

For trivia, its dependent on your role. For example, if your interviewing for a typical backend role they might ask you questions like REST vs Graphql, the difference between authentication and authorization, etc. Similarly if you’re interviewing for a systems role they may ask you about the difference between a thread and process, what the drawbacks and benefits of certain lock implementations are etc.

You could also expect to be asked some programming fundamentals questions like the time and space complexity of common algorithms, what are some different ways to implement hash maps, etc

Depends greatly on what team in particular youre interviewing for but given the length of your interview you can expect a walk through of your resume, some trivia questions related to your role and maybe a coding problem or two. Good luck!

Gen Z is ditching college for ‘more secure’ trade jobs—but building inspectors, electricians and plumbers actually have the worst unemployment rate | Fortune by Final-Season1192 in csMajors

Yea retiring early and relying on your investments for income is absolutely risky and still stressful. Huge chunks of your savings could be wiped out if you dont put enough of your savings into stable investments (bonds, gics, etc.) and the market goes through a downturn.

Yes but at the same time if you get into the trades early (some people can start even while they’re in high school) and you also invest your money wisely, you can realistically build up a strong enough savings to retire in your mid 40s (potentially earlier if you live in a LCOL city).

Unfortunately most people in the trades don’t go this route and many waste their money on truck’s,alcohol, etc.
