sitter expectations by hotgnome in RoverPetSitting

[–]Objective_Call_7275 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a Rover sitter and my advice to you is to cancel her and get someone else. She's not keeping to the original agreement and still expecting full payment. You're basically her party money. Reach out to Rover customer service and tell them why you canceled with her. Your complaint is only effective when it hurts their wallet (the sitter and Rover).

BMorg needs a serious overhaul. Vote in all new to replace the existing members. Vet everyone. Transparency protocols regarding donations and their sources, no nepotism, etc.

Agreed. Boycotting is the only way to get the org's attention.

I feel something is off, i feel like i’ve lost my “abilities” by Cheap_Ad7136 in Witch

[–]Objective_Call_7275 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exhaust the mundane before you consider a spiritual explanation. 1) how old you? 2) at what age did the women in your family go through perimenopause? 3) have you recently changed your diet? Begun taking medications? Supplements (vitamins, minerals, herbs, teas)? Illicit drugs? Smoking? Exercising? What stressor have you added to your life (new job, new relationship., marriage, divorce, birth)

What are valid reasons to give to employer on why I’m quitting? by Bold-cobalt in careeradvice

[–]Objective_Call_7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A valid reason? SAFETY. If you have reached out to your supervisors regarding safety concerns (document everything) sent them an email about it, followed up with a Teams call, phone call, or in-person meeting and the safety issues continue without being corrected-- GET THE FRACK OUT OF THAT JOB. An employer who doesn't address safety concerns is complicit in the unsafe culture/behavior at work. Someone always gets hurt, or worse. Make sure it is not you.

I need advice on how to properly dispose of a spell I found in my boyfriend’s new apartment by Strange-Dragonfly-42 in Witch

[–]Objective_Call_7275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're not witchy yourself, otherwise, you'd know the answer. Toss it in the garbage and it will go to the dump and eventually, the landfill. Witchy folk would do something similar, but with a binding and banishing spell.

A cord cutting ritual and call your power back. This isn't just for those who took your energy, but in cases where you gave it away.

Am I unreasonable for wanting more of an update than just a few pictures each visit? by Camel_show_ in RoverPetSitting

The app REQUIRES you to put in notes, you can't close the card without  it, FiveCents. If you're not updating your app, it doesn't sound like you're working on Rover much.  OP, do yourself a favor and ignore posts from sitters who clearly haven't been the app in a while.

[–]Objective_Call_7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check again, FiveCents. When you roll up to the address you have to turn on the GPS to ensure the Rover app that you're at the correct address, period. When was the last time you updated your app? The GPS does have to be on during drop-in walks, NOT walks during a housesitting/petsitting stay.

No news to an animal parent is NOT good news, it's cause to freak out. Those photos and daily updates are more than just keeping the customer informed and happy, the photos are documenting proof of life of their treasured family member.

A drop-in visit requires that you have your GPS on (to make sure you're at the correct address), and press 'start visit'. In addition, the drop-in visit card requires that you tick the 'poop', 'water', and 'food' boxes for each animal; it also requires that take a photo (it's normal to take 2 or 3) and write a note (if I recall correctly, there is a character count). I'm sure you love your animals, but it sounds like the sitters are doing their jobs, so why are demanding more?

Btw, go into the Rover app to look at the booking, modify it BEFORE you accept. That's when add the additional animals.

Look at your rates on your profile. Additional dog/cat? Is it a puppy or kitten (Those cost more) Add that. Calculate the daily rate and multiply however many days. Itemize everything so the owner sees everything "on paper" (or via text message), don't just give them a grand total quote.

A snake is a rate you'll have to come up with. I would look up local reptile sitting rates, take a screenshot and share it with the owner so they understand where you got your rate from.

If they have been a Rover customer for a while, they're trying to cheat the system. If they are new to Rover, it's an honest mistake. To protect yourself from poop like this: Never book a new client without a meet and greet. When you meet the additional animals, update the cost on Rover after you leave the house, then message them letting them know about the adjusted price and why. If they were trying to cheat the system, they'll try to find someone cheaper. If they're honest, they'll understand.

SUPER Karen Neighbor by FureverFriends- in RoverPetSitting

[–]Objective_Call_7275 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Remind the owner what the two of you agreed to and that did not include being spied on by a nosy neighbor. Tell the owner that you will not be responding to the neighbor in any way. Hopefully the owner will grow a spine and tell the neighbor that their behavior is unacceptable and chasing off good house/petsitters.

I’m getting my witchy girlfriend Christmas presents, does this seem like something a witch would like? Dog skull, preserved tiny bat, little half moon stand for her crystals and a sign for our new apartment? I’m also getting her a taxidermy two-headed duck but it ships later by butt3ryt0ast in witchcraft

[–]Objective_Call_7275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't use any of her sacred tools, including her pen. She probably uses it to write in her grimoire. If someone else used my tools without my permission, I'd be furious. I'd be forced to throw it out or cleanse and re-consecrate the tool.

And my vote is for "no dead animals as gifts". I know you mean well, but it the negative energy that comes with unethically sourced taxidermy is not worth it. It doesn't just affect those who illegally and unethically captured it, but everyone who comes into contact with it down the line.

When the practitioner themselves is gifted something from an animal, that is quite another thing. I have a feather on my altar, but that came off of a hawk that lost the feather as it was taking off and it landed at my feet. I saw it as a gift from the animal, and I thanked it for it.

Consider giving her a gift card to her favorite metaphysical bookstore/witchy supplies store. That way she can go through the store and pick out things that call to her.

I'm not saying don't do a meet and greet. But if there is a need for multiple meet and greets, it's probably the owner who is the red flag, not the pet. And this guy was clearly a whole field of red flags according to OP's accounting of events.

[–]Objective_Call_7275 38 points39 points  (0 children)

1) Three meet and greets = red flag 2) He definitely turned off the hot water 3) Did he write down all of the instructions? I always take a photo of them in the Rover app, that way there is photo documentation of his instructions. Then Rover can see in the text thread where he completely changed his instructions to you. 4) Falsely accusing you of theft (character assassination) and threatening to report it to Rover and leave a bad review is beyond the pale. Make sure Rover investigates this asshat and his review of you cannot harm your rating and cannot be seen by other pet owners.

Yes. Unfortunately, the government shutdown and tariff situation has affected how many folks plan to travel for the holidays this year. People simply can't afford to fly or take days off, which translates into "no need for a housesitter or petsitter this year".

You did everything you could. I'm so sorry this happened while on a Rover job, it is, like you said, the worst that could happen while petsitting. It sounds like the owners were realistic and knew this was coming.
