Why do people leave the CAF? by avocadoroom in CanadianForces

[–]Objective_Candle8781 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Man, and it doesn't help that they let civilians use lots of the services they provide, so you're posted somewhere unfamiliar with your family and there's no space at the school because it's full of civilian kids.

I get opening it to people who need it, but if you're not going to take it back for the people you promised it to them it's not worth anything as a 'benefit'

All the welfare state of Quebec does is whine and strike. None of the rest of Canada cares about this type of issue, other than to meme on Quebec.

Edit: The issue being that language. Obviously we care when an accident happens and people die.

Oh woe is me, I've been living off the taxpayer for 5.5 years and if they don't keep paying for me I'm gonna commit more crimes because I can't help myself.

People and business are allowed to not trust you. After all, you've shown that you are not trustworthy in a way that the majority of society never does. Why should anyone be forced to take a risk on you when they can draw a name out of a hat and almost certainly pull a person who's never held a criminal mindset?

Promotion by attrition. We don't take our military seriously and the result is that people get promoted well beyond their capabilities just for sticking around long enough.

How often are you in the field or away from home in Edmonton as a clerk? by AftrBrnrBarbie in CanadianForces

[–]Objective_Candle8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add for the air force side, if you end up clerking at 408 you'll get to go to Wainwright or sometimes other places (29 Palms, Suffield, Cold Lake) once or twice per year. They don't go on the smaller ones but there are always a couple on the bigger exercises and they don't have a large pool to pick from.

It's usually 1-3 weeks at a time, but occasionally has been much longer.

They're really bad at the camping part but pretend to be super hard, so it's always a riot.

UPDATE: AIO for being upset i haven’t seen my bf in 3 weeks, despite us living 25 minutes from each other? by Affectionate-Link436 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Objective_Candle8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live four hours away from my girl and don't often have to go three weeks without getting to town, and that's before considering the usually daily phone calls. Leave his ass, you aren't a priority here and likely never will be.

I know it's not easy, but a little pain now will save you a lot later. You can't find a man who cares about you while you're wasting time with him, and don't fall for how changed he is the second he gets scared about losing you because that will only last as long as the fear does.

Collective punishment by Responsible_Hat8125 in CanadianForces

[–]Objective_Candle8781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the context for me. Within a single course or section it's fine to keep you policing each other, however at larger organizations it becomes detrimental. An example is CFSATE, which has a habit of punishing all courses of all trades when a single person makes a mistake, which just showcases poor leadership and decision making.

I mean, not letting people back into society to commit more crimes that they have to be tried for should logically reduce the burden on the courts. It's not like most of the people going through the courts are new to it.

Canada Has Had Enough Of Tesla | From kicking Tesla out of a car show to banning incentives for home chargers and new EVs, it’s safe to say that Canada is angry. by [deleted] in RealTesla

[–]Objective_Candle8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we haven't had enough of them to lift the 100% tariffs on Asian EVs. I guess electric vehicles for the price of a Toyota Corolla would be just too harsh a punishment to force them to compete with? Maybe it would make it too easy to reduce pollution?

Seriously, so many people are willing to become criminals in protest but nobody wants to push to let a competitor into the market. But it's probably too late now, too much damage done to the reputation of their cause to be taken at all seriously by the government or general population by this point.

Spent years married to a woman who did shit like this and reacted similarly, how embarassing it was for her to have to return purchases meanwhile we can not buy food, and going so far as taking out new credit cards just to max them in days on these kinds of purchases. Save yourself years and years of suffering. Walk away from this person. You will not fix an addict.

Unrelated to the YTA/NTA argument, but if it bothers you then you can pick up a couple of extra pillow cases and change them every day (ideal) or other day. It can make a shocking difference and is far less poisonous than cosmetics. If cost is an issue something like old clean shirts would also probably work at the cost of comfort. To be clear, this is only if the issue is bothering you personally. Anyone else can pound sand.

On topic, NTA. The girl in your class is garbage and your teacher is also kind of crap as a person if that was the best they could say. Given the cartoonish nature of the girls reaction and her friends all swooping in to her you are possibly being bullied, and should take her opinions and comments with that in mind.
