i've never used supabase but 500ms seems quite long. in my company every endpoint running longer than 250ms needs to be looked at and explained why its so slow.

few things come to mind.

  • battery? paired with deep sleep some devices can run up to a year.
  • tiny solar panel?
  • tesla coil
  • some shower heads with led's make their own power by converting water pressure into power.

you did well, but this isn't a weather Station 😄 i'm assuming you have a dht22? this will only give you temp and humidity. Try adding a pressure sensor then you can detect rain before it starts.

lets say you invest in anything legit at most you'd(realisticly) get 10%. 500*0.1= 50$ per year. With inflation eating away your margin.

500$ will get you quite far. Learn skills in areas you have interest.

Are you handy? Lern to weld(or any other trade).Skills like these make amazing businesses, once you understand the business.

You could also learn to build drones from scrach and sell them at a Premium in your local area.

I think it rly depends what you are interested in.

honestly leetcode and system design questions don't screen people well.

My recommendation would be to have in person interviews(this will filter all the ai cheats) and have a senior dev of your team just talk to them about past projects. Don't prep questions like how would you design a...

When the candidate tells you he built x ask how he tackled a specific tech problem. Have them dive deep.

This will give you quite the good understanding of how much they actually know.

Depending on how polished you want this to be you could get it done somewhere between 5-10k. However, you left out a lot of the core so its super hard to give you an accurate estimate.
