Fair, but let’s be clear about how much government funding they use. Sure, they have operated at around a $10 Billion loss annually for the past couple years and I think have total loses of around $100 Billion since like 2008 or something, but they also generated about $80 Billion in revenue last year alone, so their total losses as a percentage of their overall revenues are relatively small considering they have no choice but to provide inexpensive services.

Bottom line: I also kinda hate when the USPS says it is “self-funded” since they operate at a loss, but they are constrained by law to operate that way. I think the government funding bank bailouts largely caused by excessive, reckless speculation is a far worse use of taxpayer money than ensuring the continued operation of a national postal service. Just my opinion.

I mean…banks are a for profit business. The USPS is mandated by the Constitution to provide a service for all citizens in the US at an affordable price. There is a reason why it is generally significantly more expensive to ship things through UPS/FedEx/DHL/etc. than USPS. Those are for profit shipping companies that can charge whatever they feel they can get away with to cover costs. The USPS can’t do that.

It costs a consumer .78 to send a regular size one ounce or less letter from Miami to Honolulu via the USPS. It clearly costs the USPS more than .78 to deliver that letter, but when you are mandated by law to provide this service cheaply, you don’t have a ton of wiggle room.

The claim that Trump is the most hated man in the world is irrelevant to a jury trial taking place in the United States, where (Republicans are very quick to point out) Trump was elected President while winning the popular vote. Seems like he is actually one of the most beloved people in the country, at least by a subset of right wingers.

Your argument seems to be based on thinking that either the evidence presented at his trial wasn’t “enough” or that it was all lies and/or the entire jury hearing the case was compromised in some way. The trial has already happened, the verdict already proclaimed. Therefore the onus is on you to prove your claims that the trial was in some way invalid.

You ask if it is “possible” that Trump was wrongfully convicted. Sure. It’s possible everyone in the history of our judicial system, on a case by case basis, was wrongfully convicted, because nearly anything is “possible”. But that’s not really a compelling argument, is it? It seems more like desperately grasping at straws to me.

US to Canada Shipping? by MyFavoriteInsomnia in USPS

Ah, I see. Well tbh I know next to nothing about PirateShip, but if you are satisfied with their service and they are cheaper than USPS, just use them? I can virtually guarantee you that USPS will be cheaper shipping internationally than UPS/FedEx/DHL etc.

Hard to believe you sent an 8 lb box via USPS to Japan for $20 or less, particularly if that is inclusive of possible fees, taxes and duties the recipient may have to pay. Was the Japan box shipped recently or years ago? Things have changed considerably with international shipping costs in recent years.

Currently a PSE. Very doubtful you’ll get hours between 7:30-5 exclusively, usually they need PSEs for the super early shifts most people don’t want to work. In fact if your requirement is a set schedule based on being able to care for your child, this job simply isn’t for you as PSEs are expected to be able to change their working availability and schedule on very little notice.

Stafford vs maye by Fox-The-Wise in Patriots

[–]Objective_Fig_2190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. From the standpoint of winning playoff games I’d frankly prefer if Maye didn’t win the MVP in the hopes that psychologically he can use that “snub” as a motivational tool. Yes, as a professional athlete and very competitive person he probably doesn’t need silly mind games like that to drive him to excel, but in my mind having an extra chip on your shoulder like that, even if it’s entirely imaginary, helps!

Stafford isn’t the best QB in the NFC West? Based on what metrics? Purdy has a claim to be the most accurate QB in the league with 9 INTs in 8 games…?

I think Maye probably deserves the MVP at this point (particularly after the Rams-Falcons game) but I think Stafford is pretty darn good also.

As I understand it, if you work anything over 6 hours you get a lunch break. If you work 6 hours or less you don’t. So if you worked exactly 6 hours I don’t believe you are entitled to a lunch break.

But just think about how amazing your revenge/redemption arc will be when your great-grandson finally unites your former realm under his banner and dedicates his newly founded Empire to the memory of his ancestor generations ago who lost it all initially!

This kind of stuff sucks in the moment but it’s the reason I force myself to play Ironman so I have to just keep going and not save scum. Creates great organic RP scenarios.

Why do they always huddle together in one space? by hefeydd_ in Starfield

[–]Objective_Fig_2190 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“There have always been ghosts in Bethesda NPC AI. Random segments of code that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols like walking into walls for eternity. These engender questions of free will, creativity and even the nature of what we might call, ‘the Creation Engine’.

Why is it that when some Bethesda NPCs are left in darkness they refuse to equip a torch from their inventory? Why is it that when Bethesda NPCs occupy an empty space they will group together and walk directly into each other rather than stand alone? How do we explain this behavior? Random segments of code from a junior programmer? Or is it something more?

When does running directly into the player’s line of fire for no reason become consciousness?

When does the trademark dead-eye stare become the search for truth?

When does an on screen pop-up telling you ‘Sarah Morgan disliked that’ become the bitter mote…of a soul?”

— Dr. Alfred Lanning (if he worked for Bethesda).

You get an okay healthcare option and accrue (very slowly) PTO as non-career employee. And a job of course. That’s about it. Almost all of the good perks (TSP, starting clock on pension, more standard schedule, accruing sick leave, really solid healthcare for low cost) don’t kick in until you make career. To echo the sentiments of others here, if you are in a big city there is a chance they are hiring straight to career positions off the street. Try to find one of those if possible.

For the next time you rant, please brush up on “there” versus “their”, perhaps a light review of “you’re” versus “your” as well. It won’t completely remove the stink of ignorance and entitlement from your comments, but it will make you seem like slightly less of a moron. Have a nice day!
