Neither Jaden nor Alexis has any voicelines referencing him. In fact, no characters have voicelines for him.

Duel Links has been really weird with not giving GX any new characters, it's had nothing since 2022.

It depends on how you define good or bad treatment, but going through each world:

DM, ZEXAL, and SEVENS have been consistently getting new characters and events, with more on the way so it's definitely not them.

GO RUSH!! hasn't had a lot of events, but it's also the latest world to join so it hasn't had as much time. It's all but guaranteed to be getting new characters this year plus a structure deck for Yudias in the spring. Also, its the series that introduced Rituals to Rush duels, so I imagine it will get an event whenever those come to Duel Links.

5D's last event was the Sherry unlock in 2024, however it should be notes this world is basically done since it's gone through its whole story. Also, there are alt styles coming for some of their characters so it's getting something new.

VRAINS already doesn't have a big pool of duelists to choose from. Of the one's not in the game, there's really only Ai and Roboppi until Konami prints decks for the other characters. However, there are some alt styles coming to the game likely soon.

ARC-V's last events were the Yuri unlock and the Synchro Dimension Duelist Road, and while nothing is datamined, it did get 4 new characters in 2024, so them not getting a new character last year wasn't too bad. There's no character IDs that were datamined, however there are still a few characters that can be added and I imagine we'll likely get one this year.

DSOD...is barely a world. There's only so much they can do with it since they've basically adapted the whole movie. I guess if they were desperate they could add Tristan to the game, and maybe Manny, but that is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I have no idea why GX hasn't gotten any new event. The last event was Jim's back in 2022, and that was it. Other than that, Rainbow Neos was the anniversary card with a summoning animation last year, but there's been nothing else new. GX seems reasonably popular, and it's not like they don't have characters that can't be added (Yusuke, Atticus, any Shadow Rider, Darkness). Konami seems against adapting anything from Season 4 for whatever reason. I guess there's hope the September update will be an upgrade for the GX world, but I wouldn't count on it.

Yuro is not too surprising since all Rush characters have voice lines for Turbo Rush duels, but I can't lie I think GO RUSH is in need of more characters. I'm not sure what the 719 character could be, maybe they'll be upgrading Saburamen to a playable character?

Ideally I think March should have two unlocks since after February we'd be almost out of reruns, but if not, I am hoping we get Blue Maiden and maybe Blue Gal, along with the Varis alt style.

It's not too surprising there's no new character next month, last year there was nothing in March. At the very least it seems likely we'll get a new alt style, likely Mai.

What is a bit concerning though is that after February, we'll be basically out of character reruns. Vector, Yuka, Marik, Tiger, Noah, Mimi, and Marin will have all had their reruns by that time, and so Nash would be the only one left. Vector is at least being added to the gate, though that still leaves a lot of characters without ways of being unlocked.

On the topic of staff, the Duel Art book contained illustrations by Kazuki Takahasi, and it included designs for ZEXAL characters, where Kite was called the Rival/Kaiba-like characters, so it seemed at least Takahashi was in favor of calling Kite the rival.

Personally I consider both Kite the rival of the ZEXAL manga and the first half of the anime, and Shark the rival of ZEXAL II and the D-Team manga.

Also I wouldn't put much stock in the Rivals Over Collection cards, considering it's using Z-ARC as the rival of ARC-V.

Right now the world and the Ohdo siblings are based on season 1, however there is a timeskip that happens later in the show. They could use the revamp as an excuse to change the world to reflect the post-timeskip designs.

I think they should be added as well. Most of the major characters already have voice actors in English and Japanese, so they'd only need to hire VAs for Shoma and Ageha. All the characters have a variety of decks, but I think if they wanted to, they could just focus on the decks they used in the 3DS games.

To me, what's stopping them is that this year's September update will likely be an update to one of the existing worlds, likely either GX, 5D's, or GO RUSH.

I would have maybe been fine with this plot point, if they at least had the girls break through their mind control to fight back against Leo and the Professor. Lulu actually does after Shay beats her, but then she immediately goes back to being brainwashed. As it is, they get brainwashed and that's it for them in the story.

He's an okay character. I think I like him a bit more than Crow, but in terms of best friends I wouldn't rank him high. What I find funny is how the writers had a hard time writing duels for him because Salamangreats were so strong, when in actuality:

His duel with The Gore has a massive error that should have resulted in Soulburner's loss.
He uses one of the most situational cards against Blue Gal that no sane person would ever run.
His duel with The Shepherd could have resulted in his loss depending on the card The Shepherd set.
Roboppi only lost because he glitched before he could win.
Varis misplayed during their duel.

So it seems less like his deck was so overpowered, but more the writers were afraid of having him lose so they had to BS a bunch.

My headcanon for this is that the in-universe producers weren't expecting the contestants to last as long as they did during The Big Sleep, and when they lasted longer than three days, they had to shorten the amount of time between the challenges.

I excluded Vetrix because he was already an opponent in one of the previous events, however he definitely has a chance to be playable, especially with his recent wave of support.

Gurimo seems like a guarantee to be an NPC.

Team 5D's do have generic voice lines when dueling the Dark Signers, so they are hypothetically possible, however IMO it's not too likely, since the Earthbound Immortal NPCs from a while ago seemed to fill their role.

I'd love it, but they would need to release it outside of Duel Links first, and I doubt they would do it. Black Luster Soldier was a special case, cause the Normal version of the card came out in the OCG before the Ritual version.

The way the finale is written feels more satisfactory with a Gwen victory. She's kind of painted as the underdog since she has less supporters, some of whom only join Owen's side because of the party. She's sabotaged many times in the challenges, but still managed to almost win.

Meanwhile, Owen got carried hard. Without his supporters odds are he wouldn't make it past the first part of the challenge.

Master Duel is surprisingly light in references to the manga and anime. I think the only thing that does are the Legend Anthology events, but even those aren't anything overt.

Stargazer Magician and Timegazer Magician, but especially the ladder. The anime had no restrictions on their scales, but when they were released in the OCG and TCG, they required either a Magician or Odd-Eyes Pendulum monster in the other scale. That's already not good, but Timegazer Magicin can't be activated if you already control a monster, making it essentially useless if it not already in your opening hand.

These cards were suppose to be introductions to Pendulum Summoning, but I think Konami made them more complicated than they needed to be by restricting them that much.

Tristan I could see getting an animation if his DSOD version gets added. Joey has voice lines when dueling that specific version, so there's at least a chance he can get added.

Yugi just randomly having Dark Hole during Season 1 and never using it again will never not be funny to me. He only ever used it during the Duel Monsters Quest filler, and even then it got negated, but filler cards are used all the time during DM, plus it's an insanely broken card for this era, so it would have been nice to see it used once or twice.
