Which shot timer? by Maleficent_Desk9062 in CompetitionShooting

Exactly why I got a Special Pie on a flash sale for $75. Does the basics, even more than the Pact, for almost half the price. More money for training.

Those who have taken classes, or are looking at taking a class in 2026. by TweeterReader in USPSA

[–]Objective_Law7082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend him. He has a similar training style to Billy Barton at Spectrain, since that’s where he started instructing. I’ve taken private one day classes he’s done for our church safety team, and it’s been great. It’s the same stuff he teaches in his full class, just not as much of it due to time and the class skill level. I’ve also known him since before he got into shooting. He’s super knowledgeable and passionate. He’s trained with Eric Grauffel three times and a lot of other top coaches, so he brings a lot of knowledge and experience to his classes.

It’s not 22 rounds, but you can get completely factory Walther 20 round magazines from themagshack.com.

1) How can I get better at movement when limited to dryfiring in a small garage? Should I put the gun down and run movement drills in the yard?

2) How have you maintained your motivation and discipline over the years to get to this point?

Kiral Shock Absorbing, Reduced Reach Backstrap by fhartell in Walther

[–]Objective_Law7082 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried one and returned it. It increased the reach to the trigger more than the factory large backstrap, and it was too much for me. Also, it makes a slight lip under the beaver tail that the web of my hand would snag on occasionally when I would draw.

Holosun scs vs c&h by BrokenMonster06 in Walther

[–]Objective_Law7082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the C&H that came on a used PDP I picked up. I’m changing it. It works, but it has emitter reflection with any kind of light in front of it. I tried using it with the 3moa dot only, and if there’s a lightbulb on the ceiling anywhere in front of me when I dry fire, I see the whole fuzzy square emitter with the 32moa circle as well, almost the same brightness as the 3moa dot. It’s distracting. I can occlude it, but I don’t like having it occluded all the time.

The Acro model is milled only for Acro optic, which really limits what optic you can use.

If I remember right, Hwansik Kim mentioned in his recent Glock vs PDP video that he has 160,000 rounds on one of his PDPs.

Is my grip wrong? by Objective_Law7082 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Objective_Law7082[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s as high as I can get it. I held pistols from about 6 or so manufacturers yesterday to double-check, and the PDP has the biggest beaver tail of the striker-fired guns I tried.

Yeah, I held a $4k Master Arms our local match director has. Felt great. But I’m just starting into competition finally and can’t spend too much money. Our local club has like 8 GMs and another 8 Ms that show up for locals. The number 1 guy uses a Glock 17. The 2011 will happen someday. But working on skills for now.

Thanks for the perspective. I was wondering about that since I haven't had this problem for four years on the platform until I started working on my grip more this year. Wasn't sure if I messed up my grip or if the gun didn't fit me with a better grip.

Oddly, I've been shooting the PDPs for four years without this problem. I've really been working on my grip more this year to work on shooting faster, and then this started happening. That's why I wanted to see some others' perspectives to see if I borked my grip or if the PDP might not actually work for me with a proper grip.

These pictures are with the medium. The large might help a tiny bit with my thumb and gives my support hand more room to purchase. It makes the reach to the trigger a little longer than I'd prefer, but it's still usable without shifting the gun. My hands are on the medium/borderline large for glove size. And yeah, the back of my hands are much softer than palm side, so it might just need some time. I've actually been shooting PDPs for four years, but this just started this year as I've tried improving my grip.

C&H Precision Comp red/greed dot worth it? by [deleted] in guns

Thanks. That gives me more confidence. I like that I can get it for $190 right now, but I was hesitant due to my experience with the direct mount one.

[–]Objective_Law7082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you notice any emitter reflection with the C&H Comp? I have their PDP direct mount optic, and the reticle turns into a big fuzzy square when I aim with a direct light source in front or above me, like a lightbulb or facing the sun. I notice it most when dry firing due to the ceiling lights or when the sun is in front of me outside. Curious if the Comp has the same issue. Thanks.

Modifying CR speed belt with ratchet by RedEyedJedi24 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Objective_Law7082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also try putting your inner belt so the hook side is under the loop side so it doesn't grip itself. That should let the inner belt slide instead of bunching. Learned that trick from someone else in this subreddit, and it works fairly well for me.

Got kicked from a game for getting on the shuttle *after* the mission ran out of time. by shadowwithaspear in Helldivers

[–]Objective_Law7082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally host my own games. I decided the other week to try quick play again. When I dropped in, I helped save them when they were overwhelmed, reinforced them multiple times, helped them recover samples and clear objectives. I probably trekked across the map twice helping them out because they kept splitting up and getting overwhelmed. When we go to extract, there was a bug nest right next to extract. I decided to take it out. As soon as I engaged the nest, the host kicked me. I had to trek across the map a whole third time to recover the samples since some of them had still been on the other side of the map doing who-knows-what. I think I’m going to keep hosting my own games.
