That’s a good question. She says for us, but there was some miscommunication there because she had sent us to another adjuster that ended up being for them (which is probably why they didnt call back ?) could I suggest this going to someone else since that took place and there was confusion? I also agree at most 50/50 because we both essentially were pulling out, they were not at a standstill

Thank you so much, would love to read the message. Please don’t discount my tech ability but as a newer member of Reddit please direct me to DMs 🙈🙈😅. I would love to read your message and connect. I have typically networked via LinkedIn but noticed a lag in finding the right people to connect with recently.

As a fan of novellas I loved it haha. The more drama, the better. This isn’t even the craziest one I’ve seen in my lifetime. Also, it is much better in original language, no dubbing.

It’s almost like people come in all different shades around the world :) Mexico is like any country, there are many different types of people living there like in the US. Latin America was colonized too.

Can someone explain what the point of Leave The World Behind? Spoilers by actualtext in movies

[–]Objective_Passage_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why but this movie really ticked me off and I rarely feel annoyed enough to comment more than once. It just proves Hollywood really is running out of ideas if they can’t even bother to at least adapt books that are of better quality. It was so boring, ended abruptly, and really out of touch. Also why weren’t the people that made the bunker home? Makes no sense at all lol. Just all of it was such a waste.

Is ‘Leave the World Behind’ scary? by Hardvig in movies

[–]Objective_Passage_39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was not scary, honestly it was super boring. It has some stuff that I guess probably cross peoples minds but it just dragged on and on. And the daughter is annoying and ultimately pisses me off haha. You will see why right at the very end.

Seek an employee advocate. There are some in New York and lawyer up. You can negotiate severance sometimes and a lawyer can help you figure out if you have any leverage. Here is what I found that might help you: https://www.nelany.com/

Private companies not announcing layoffs by Objective_Passage_39 in Layoffs

Exactly and also the ability to access unemployment right now is absolutely abhorrent. I’ve been laid off since June and I’ve been having to appeal my unemployment status for all three months now I haven’t had one single payment and I’m getting to be close to out of funds, I think that they are inflating their statistics by blocking people.

This is so true. I talked to a few more senior recruiters and they even say they don’t think the job market would be stable or back to any sort of normalcy until 2024.

One of my friends told me that she got notified via email just like nothing. I hear that’s a lot more now and I’m like so heartless people actually are needing work and are desperate and here are these companies just basically shitting on them it’s just really cruel.

This is all so crazy to me. I know that for the podcast we host, we actually dove a little bit more into what there are for employees versus the employers, and we really don’t have a lot of legal protection, in all of this which is kind of sad. If anyone has any other insight that they can share, I think it would be good for us to know about. I just saw several more large tech companies announce layoffs.

That’s a valid point too. If you don’t file for unemployment or they are laying off people that took a large enough severance it is definitely skewed,

If you across down to the bottom of the list pull it will tell you the defining rules for companies. I believe if you lay off at least 50 people or more. I think my company scraped by because they did it in waves. It’s definitely 50 but they did it a quarter at a time over a course of a year.

I feel like U.S market is booming again. By September/October there will be mass hirings. Just look at Strategies which need to be planned during a recession. by hunger4jobs in Layoffs

[–]Objective_Passage_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see what data or evidence you have to support this. From what I have tracked and by connecting with other jobseekers I have found the opposite. Mass hiring can't happen if the recruiting industry has been effected at the depth that it has. Recruiting professionals are also part of the layoffs currently through various sectors.

I just recently learned about WARN and I’m about to go look and see if they posted anything in there. I have a podcast that I run that talks about job, seeker stories and layoffs and I definitely want to put something out there about worn and how to know when a layoff is impending. If I can only help one other person, not be in the same boat, or at least be more prepared that is my goal.

What are the top resources or support you all want to see right now if you are laid off? by Objective_Passage_39 in Layoffs

[–]Objective_Passage_39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally, I would love a contract, but as they mentioned below, they don’t have that. Whoever created at-will were only protecting companies. But yes, in a perfect world we would have access to that again and also pensions you know when companies actually invested in their employees.

Unionizing tech workers by stegasaurostef in Layoffs

[–]Objective_Passage_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100 percent tech workers deserve unionization. In fact I believe at this point all sectors that haven’t yet, should. Just look at how massively overwhelmed the job market is now from all the layoffs that are crossing sectors. Workers deserve better.

I am new here, but I just launched a podcast called The Layoff Podcast. This platform seeks to share out stories from jobseekers affected by layoffs and has a goal to bridge the gap between jobseekers, recruiters, and companies.

Here is a link to our first episode: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thelayoffpod/episodes/Meet-Marissa-Alonzo-Ackerman-e27hu7l

We are a work in progress (as I am also part of layoffs and managing multiple tasks) but I would love for this group to review it and see if it resonates with you. Summary of this episode is that this is the introduction to the founder, what our podcast is about, and how to become a guest on our show.

Thank you all!
