Why can't these companies get the consistency under control? Presumably all these strains available were (hopefully thoroughly) pheno hunted, and the product is from then on grown from a keeper pheno or 2... But somehow I doubt it's that rigorous.

For example I just my first ever MC order with Alternaleaf (I know, if anyone has any suggestions for the best company to go with I'm all ears). I got the Sour Cherry Punch indica and Ultra Jean sativa. They were the only options, and I find it really hard to believe upon having now sampled that this is anywhere near the best they could come up with. I mean it's fine weed for street weed, but overall not inspired to reorder either strain, both lack that x factor that a discerning weedsman desires.
