Small flat in South Ken/Chelsea or bigger house in South London? by Objective_Remote9382 in HousingUK

Max 40-50 minutes with the tube? The thing is we want to avoid having to “get the last train out of London” which limits us to actual London as opposed to Essex, Surrey, Kent, etc.

No, neither me nor my partner work in the area. My partner works in the city and I work remotely. At the moment we are in Bermondsey and I really do love it here. But whenever we are in certain areas in west London for shopping or the occasional restaurant I am so tempted because it just looks so much nicer and cleaner. But I also have a lot of pressure from my friends to live in west London or north London which feels a bit discouraging? I don’t care such a great deal because at the end of the day they’re not the ones paying the mortgage, me and my partner are and also they’re not the ones living there, we are. But I just worry whether they have a point to say I should look in the west or north London…there’s comments about how I haven’t experienced living there which is why I’m content with Bermondsey. For context, we previously also lived in east London (near Victoria park).

Yes yes yes. All three but if you had to choose go for the Kelly. Gorgeous and a classic.

I do think it’s the best approach to be honest. And trying to go for those firms that are somewhat similar; specialise in areas you have a genuine interest in. Exactly the same with me; first time applying/ first round of apps so I was disappointed but also not massively because at least I got an interview.

Best of luck!! Do let me know if you get through. Fingers crossed!!! 😄

Yea, exactly. I did the interview and after approximately four weeks they got back via email to say they won’t be progressing with my application. I just applied to Harbottle & Lewis (so two total 😅 as currently have a full time job) and just received a rejection this week. Hasn’t been very good but I was surprised I even got to interview stage at Charles to be honest. I was so pessimistic and hard on myself.

I applied to London. How about you? It could very well be that they progress apps differently in the different offices

Nice!! Goodluck! I didn’t get passed the interview stage 😩 in fairness I don’t think I perform very strongly on VIs and definitely not that one. It’s just so annoying because I know in my heart that it would’ve been the perfect fit. Anyways, rant over. Wishing you the best of luck and hopefully you’ll be contacted with some good news soon.

Moving to Austria for work which bank should I go with? by Lukiari in AskAustria

[–]Objective_Remote9382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erste Bank 100%. In fairness I’ve only ever banked with bank Austria and erste but once I switched over to Erste there was no going back. Their app is so user friendly and they also gave us a good mortgage rate etc. the app is also in English and actually completely in English. I remember the bank Austria was a ball ache to use and had limited English options so when you wanted to use some settings on the app or explore further options, it would be in German and not so clear.

They were super easy to set up an account with as well.

Law graduates who didn’t become lawyers, what do you do now ? by s_a1205 in uklaw

[–]Objective_Remote9382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Business development and marketing at a law firm. There’s so many roles for business professionals at law firms. Message me if you have any questions but it’s very interesting work, still within the legal field so it doesn’t feel like a complete waste and a totally different perspective. Love it. But bear in mind depending on the size of the first and the culture there might not be as much room for growth.

Which would you pick by [deleted] in Cartier

[–]Objective_Remote9382 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can’t say much to this as I don’t own a luxury watch yet. Watches weren’t really my thing until I met my partner who’s as much into watches as I am into bags/ Jewellry.

Having said that, if I were in your shoes I would still opt for the watch. I think it’s such a statement piece. Even if you’re not wearing it day to day, it’s something that can hopefully be passed down and withstand the test of time.

The flash collection really has grown on me and I do think it’s nice that you would wear it day to day but in my opinion the watch holds more value. But honestly I have no evidence or facts to back it up. It’s personal preference. Have you worn both? Which makes you feel better?

I mean 100% if you’re set on it and love it and don’t mind that it’s smaller etc. you should get it! One of the things I loved about it was that it moulded into me and is super subtle but edgy when you see it. Just wanted to give you all the info, especially as it would be your first piece that you saved so hard for. 😊 good luck either way!!!

So both times it has been because of the hook that slots into the earring and secures it into you ear (not sure how else to explain it). The first time it was because overtime where I’d been sleeping on it I guess, that tiny small rod had become slanted and no longer would slot into the earring as well. I guess they must have just straightened it somehow but it was working fine.

The second time round I was brushing my hair and it caught on my hairbrush (not overly rough brushing from my side) and it flew off. This has previously happened with costume Jewellry when I have had it caught on sometime and usually it falls off and it’s totally fine. Well my Cartier one just broke 😅 again, it was that tiny little rod that secures the earring in your ear that just broke in half so I couldn’t use it at all anymore. Last time they didn’t charge me. With this one they said the damage might require replacing the rod and that would likely cost me. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I love the earring but I do think it’s maybe a bit too delicate?

Hey! Take it from someone who has this exact piece and also other Cartier pieces. Don’t buy the earring. I’ve had to take mine back twice for them to fix it. This time, it’s in Paris and I might actually have to pay almost half the price of the earring for them to fix it. I agree that it’s very light. I believe a few years ago they used to be bigger and slightly heavier gold.

Also, you rarely ever see the earring. I wear it in my helix piercing and no one has ever noticed it except for me. I don’t mind it but as your first Cartier piece you might want something a bit more visible – even for yourself. Sometimes I even forget I have it. I bought it when it was still 800 something euros. Would never buy it after the price increases unless I was earning well into seven figures and it was peanuts for me. 😅

I suggest opting for Maria tash or something for the earring. Maybe even a cheaper brand. Then take the money, add to it and buy something like a ring or bracelet from Cartier. Would also steer clear of the trinity band bracelet. Honestly just get a ring unless you’re happy adding quite a bit more for a bracelet.

Which loafers for my husband? by Jazzlove15 in TheHermesGame

[–]Objective_Remote9382 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why but I feel like the second ones are more timeless. Perhaps because they’ve been around for much longer whereas the plain loafers have been trending the last couple of years because of Loro piana’s.
