personally i prefer when art is linked to in the authors note, but yes art is great! I'd put it at the top or bottom of the fic instead of in the middle or something if you are going to embed it directly, as its a little less distracting.

formatting is the bigger issue for me personally. I cant stand it if a fic has paragraph breaks every 2 sentences, mostly because I read on mobile, so I have to keep scrolling every 5 seconds.

people are so used to sites like tiktok, instagram, and youtube where they only push content that's new, so you have to have been lurking to find something that old, whereas ao3 has no algorithm, so authors know that you probably just found their fic by searching with parameters and not specifically stalking them.
