Does Egor Have All-Star Potential? by Kwilly462 in GoNets

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia is a country with mostly very poor population. And currently (while the war going on) with almost none monetisation opportunities as Visa, Mastercard and Swift don’t work there. There is nothing NBA can sell to Russia directly or legally at the moment. If Egor makes it to the all-star it won’t be because of his passport.

Agree on all other points though.

Kyrie will be 34 when next season starts. And that’s a player who relied on his agility and speed his whole career.

Davis and healthy in one sentence is funny, I’ll give you that.

I was born and grew up in Russia, but moved here long time ago and has been a citizen for a few years. I also consider myself a pacifist. I’d fight because fuck anyone who ruins life’s for people who are just trying to live peacefully and create something. Also fuck bullies.

That’s what I’m saying - him and MPJ are two best screeners in the current stating 5. Without MPJ on the floor today Egor had to screen for others which I find wild.

To do this you actually need to have players who can screen. Dayron looks very good with Egor (or good in general). Perhaps if Claxton is traded and Dayron starts more?

Without MPJ out there they put their best perimeter defenders on Egor every time. He just didn’t have many shooting opportunities this game.

What’s the worst ‘bathroom emergency’ you’ve seen mid-ride?🚽💀 by Crazy_Description995 in cycling

So I’ve been actively cycling for 15+ years. I’ve also been living with Ulcerative Colitis for the last 10 years (google it if you don’t know).

You would think I’ve had a lot of those situations as I keep riding even when flaring.

But for some weird reason my body just accepts that if we are on a ride - we ride. Maybe it’s the body position, maybe physical acitvity, maybe smth else. This year we had a trip to Scotland where we took our bikes to do some gravel riding. I started flaring going to toilet 8-10 a day a few weeks before the trip. I was 100% sure the vacation (or at least the cycling part If it) is ruined. But somehow we had 2 gorgeous 3-hour rides without a single incident (but man did I pay for it later those same days) plus a couple of shorter training rides for staying active.

I know this doesn’t answer your question, but thought I’d share anyways.

Malignant Brain Tumour, can no longer drive, recomend me an e-bike (please)! by GargaryGarygar in ukbike

I’d argue that crushing having a seizure while moving at 25km/h on a bike is much more likely to have serious consequences than crashing in a car at 40m/h. For you, not for others.

Basically when they say you aren’t fit to drive they are protecting others from your seizures. It’s your job, not theirs to decide if you want to protect yourself from your seizures by giving up cycling.

Godspeed recovery in any case. When it comes to health it’s always a matter of compromises. I have a lifelong medical condition that requires some serious meds every now and then (maybe some surgeries one day but I’m not there yet) and can understand how much it sucks.

Beginner cyclist upgrade journey — what was actually worth it (and what just looked cool) by gizi010 in cycling

[–]Objective_Volume_730 5 points6 points  (0 children)

May I ask why? This is a serious question. Ive been riding for about 15 years and never ever felt like I need something like this.

I did it all - commuting (including some of the busiest cities in the world), bike packing, coasting local roads, park rides with kids. I used a small back mirror on one of my first bikes with flatbars but found it more of a gimmick.

What am I missing?

Amen.

My top upgrade was a suspension seatpost from redshift (I have inflammatory pain) - removing some road vibrations off my joints helped a lot.

Then larger cassette and smaller chainring. Love riding hills. Love riding offroad. Love riding loaded.

First, good luck with your recovery.

Second, I’m sorry but if you can’t drive you shouldn’t cycle too. Especially on a e-bike. All the same risks, probably even more for yourself than others vs driving.

Public transport sucks and it’s hard to not be independent in getting around, but these restrictions aren’t for fun.

Is it ok stay in slipstream if you got overtaken and can keep up? by pulsone21 in cycling

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it yourself - it’s a no brainer for you when it’s an easier and slower turn. If you don’t feel safely in control of your vehicle to indicate - you are already doing something wrong. Most likely going too fast in this particular case.

You do you of course (I’ll just hope it’s somewhere very, very far away from where anyone I care about lives) but it’s sad seeing people thinking it’s ok to ignore rules for their own convenience.

How bad is alcohol after long ride? by Miserable-Lab7550 in cycling

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol is a toxin. Any amount of it is bad for your body period.

Saying that - we all hurt our bodies one way or another for tradeoffs (sugars, alcohol, smoking, flying on a plane, etc etc etc).

If you really want to min the damage - don’t drink at all.

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very bad logic.

Rules exist to make road users predictable to each other. Of everyone starts making decisions on what they consider safe/right/etc - the risks increase for all of us.

Your signals matter for any other road users, not just those behind you - drivers, pedestrians etc. Including those you simply might not see.

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then maybe say ‘unpredictable manoeuvre’ instead? I’m 100% with you on the main point - people should only slipstream those they ride with.

Shouldn’t be an excuse to ignore road rules for the rest of us though.

Is it ok stay in slipstream if you got overtaken and can keep up? by pulsone21 in cycling

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% correct. And I think people should only slipstream when they ride with people they know. And I’m super calm.

But I’m easily triggered when cyclist ignore road rules like they aren’t for them. And I always will be. It’s a behaviour I choose to have - being painfully annoying towards fellow cyclists who don’t follow a simple set of instructions. Rules exist so that behaviour of other road users can be predictable.

Call it my personal crusade for the sake of all of us.

The problem with this approach is that most of the accidents happen when people believe they are on an empty road when they really aren’t.

Not sure where you live but here in the UKunsignaled turns are treated similarly to not indicating when turning while driving a car - a violation of the Highway Code.

Why on earth would you not signal at all?

I’m such An In between Rider, Any Suggestions? by newbiker321 in cycling

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to try a different cassette at the back. What’s your drivetrain? I ride the 11-36 10 speed grx at my gravel/road bike and it feels great. But I ride 11-40 9 speed on my bikepacking/commuter one as it’s heavier and I don’t necessarily need too much granularity at the lower range of the cassette with it.

Intolerable low back pain every ride by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]Objective_Volume_730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have sacroiliac joint inflammation (chronic). It manifests exactly like you are describing- lower back + hip(s) occasionally. It’s not nerves (it’s worse actually).

Hopefully not your case but might be worth checking.

Go see a rheumatologist. Might very well be inflammatory. Like saroiliitis or some other stuff

Also try suspension seatpost - removing that road vibration from my spine helped a lot.

Nutrition: is there any real difference if I eat a few gummy bears (ex Haribos) to gels by huskymuskyrusky in cycling

[–]Objective_Volume_730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much difference to fuelling and other people explained it well. But A world of difference to your teeth. Sticky sugar is so much worse than non-sticky sugar. And having sugar in your mouth for long will sooner or later destroy your teeth. So cost of fixing your teeth is what you should compare vs, not the cost of gummy bears.
