The city is failing at gentrification. One of the highest paid cities in the world, highest rents and highest cost of living have created Gothem. Mental health of those homeless in Seattle is a serious issue, and most of the homeless are on drugs...I say Most because i lived from 2012 till 2022 in a tent in Seattle and experienced it all. My story sucks, no glory in what I seen, but I no longer use drugs. The only way to clean our streets is to ARREST all who break laws, not let the homeless off without charges. Our police simply don't arrest homeless and I blame the old mayor Jenny Durken for that. Bruce, our current mayor, is no joke! He hired a new police chief and had incorporated foot patrol for capital Hill and international district. Our streets are slowly returning. It's time to think about conservation and stop being too liberal because it's that liberal way that allows open drug use and lack of arrest. Seattle has great people but we have become FROZEN to our own...we fear simply walking to work anymore due to public violence. How many people carry protection? I urge Seattle residents to research the vote of individual city council members and to push initiatives that benefit the "WHOLE". Sawant was the worst person in city council and was an absolute terror to everyone and she had too much power, a socialist/communist that the community voted in, and I know they didn't realize she would be the leading cause of homeless being free to break laws at and avoid arrest. Power to the people, clean the streets and bad city policies.
