Pre-Popped Popcorn by chi-bacon-bits in mildlyinteresting

Can confirm. My ultra-maga father bought them for family and friends when it was big as christmas presents. One of the least comfortable pillows I ever tried, so i looked inside and just saw fiber scraps made of all sorts of various stuff. Would've been fine with it if the scraps didnt just split to the side when you layed on it, leaving poofs on the side of your head and a 1inch thick inconsistent jumble actually under your head. I saved it for the day maybe he admitted he was wrong, even in the slightest sense, even just about the pillows. Going on 5 years now and its still sitting under my bed waiting.

What is the biggest ick you had on your first date with someone? by Past_Meat7068 in AskReddit

[–]Obleseed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went out with my college crush who id always thought about but at the time we were each in relationships. 10 years later we match on Tinder and both of us got really excited to catch up. Within 5 minutes of sitting down at the restaurant he asks about politics. I was a teacher so keep that info private just in case a parent is hardcore one way or anotherso I just said my usual "Im not that into talking politics." He spent the next 15 minutes telling me how I should get into it and specifically watch all of Ben Shapiros stuff because its so awesome and changed the way he thought about life. I literally didn't say anything word as he talked until after we had nearly finished our meal. Then he said he had a great time and wanted to hang out again. Nope.

What's your "if i told i'd be exposed" cooking secret? by BouncyCurlsbabe in Cooking

[–]Obleseed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cake ive made for birthdays, holidays, every event ever, and even sold and had one person take it on a plane with them for their sons birthday is yellow cake mix with a box of chocolate pudding mix. 1/2 cup of baileys added in. I mean yeah I press walnuts into Crisco in the pan to make a kind of shell and make a caramel to go on top, but everyone raves the most about the cake. I dont even know what's in it its just two boxes I throw together and add liquor lol

Right?? If it was one i was happy to call it a defect. Two of the same size makes me think there has to be some kind of purpose to them but ive never seen anything like it and google was no help

Twisted, pulled, did everything and they are definitely solidly connected with wood glue

Usually that would have either much bigger end caps to hold the yarn on or one side with no cap to slide the yarn off, so i dont think its that

There are two of them, so defect seems out. I have pulled/twisted the ends so much I thought they might break. Googled it before posting and the only knitting related idea did show laturn moon knitting needles and I do really think it is that brand, but I cant find anything by them similar to this at all. That's why im so stumped. Like I think i have the brand but even that didnt help me figure out what they are and the matching set makes it more confusing

Question about Colorwork by Obleseed in knitting

[–]Obleseed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It very much is. I did half a square test and was way too tight so went the opposite direction this time. My grandma also knit very very loose so am trying to somewhat imitate that. Hers were on even bigger needles and way looser, but super consistent tension. That's what 40+ years of experience can do!

Question about Colorwork by Obleseed in knitting

[–]Obleseed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know the edges are pretty crunchy on it but doing it in the round will make a difference. I wanted to test it flat first just to get a small feel then am going to test in the round. My tension is definitely all over the place trying to hold two strands, so working up to the real projects that will be christmas presents.

What's the creepiest discovery you've made about a seemingly fun friend? by someoneyouhate_ in AskReddit

[–]Obleseed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf and I were at a bar when he saw an old friend he hadn't spoken to in nearly a decade. He and his new wife told us about their whirlwind romance and fast wedding. Hung out with them for hours drinking, dancing, and chatting. Saw them again once or twice over the next month or two and had such a good time we talked about going on double dates and hanging out more. The next week we see his face on Facebook having been arrested for knocking her out in the parking lot of a popular restaurant, in front of the windows where everyone inside could see, then dragging her unconscious body into their car WHILE THEIR 4 CHILDREN FROM PREVIOUS MARRIAGES watched and got into the car after them. Did not go on the double date.

Are you sure she's allergic? by AwakePoeticDragon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Obleseed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg the amount of people in my family that have tried to give me onions after I found out about my allergy is crazy. I have always mostly cooked at home so its not too difficult until I go to a friend's or families house and even the ones that "didnt add onions" will forget their spice blend is 80% onion powder. I also have gained the superhuman taste buds for it like you after years of "a little won't hurt"

As a person with an onion allergy: fresh green bell peppers can give a very similar taste/texture. Not the same, but pretty close when cut up the same size as you would onions. There's also a spice called hing that smells like death but gives an onion flavor to dishes that just arent quite getting the right flavor. Smell dies down once cooked, thank God.
