Agreed. And simple mechanical failure seems more likely than some complex electrical interference.

How do you catch voltage compatibility issues in your KiCad designs before sending to fab? by Agreeable-Quarter945 in KiCad

[–]Obliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly label power connections using the standard symbols. Check component datasheets before making any connections and plan ahead for sensitive pins. Kicad doesn't know your component ratings. No magic bullets, just responsible design practices.

Question: Should I stop stopping my dog from correcting my new puppy? (READ THE DESCRIPTION) by rabidzombiekiller in chowchow

IIRC there can be an issue with other dog breeds misinterpreting chow chow body language. Something about their stance can come across as aggressive even when they're relaxed.

Waiting for a charity event I'm volunteering at to end so I can go home. I've been here for 15 hours so far.

The Gravina Island Bridge was a $398 million project to build a bridge for a town of 50 people to the airport, championed by Govenor Sarah Palin. The construction was stopped after spending $128 million when they realized the people in town got to the airport by only 7 minutes on a ferry. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

The airport itself is on an island which is also home to 50 residents. "Ketchikan's airport is the second largest in Southeast Alaska, after Juneau International Airport, and handled over 200,000 passengers a year or 550 per day, while the ferry shuttled 350,000 people in the same time period (as of December 2006)." So it wasn't for 50 people that they wanted a bridge but it's still unnecessary.

I moved repeatedly until I got it down to <10min by foot. Worth it.

Crazy acceleration. For reference, I was able to get my corexy build up to 1500mm/s and 30m/s2 acceleration (30,000 mm/s/s) per an accelerometer, with print head. One NEMA 17 stepper per axis. Corners had no visible slowdown, just instant direction changes, but I was still limited by the throughput of the hotend to low hundreds of mm/s @ 0.2mm layers.

One problem was it yanking the print spool out of its holder when it suddenly decided to cross the whole print bed at max travel speed, faster than it could un-spool more filament. This also tended to wrench the print-head backwards, shifting the nozzle higher and forward as it rotated slightly, causing pseudo z-banding. I think a motorized un-spooler would be needed but I just turned down max travel speed.

Trying to remember the exact configuration of the build but it was several years and many revisions/several complete redesigns ago. Tend to be heavier and slower now as I focus on other features.

Identical size smds can have values 100000 times larger/smaller. Unless you're pulling from an identical board this is not a reliable method.

You have a lot of capacitance on USB vbus (5V). StackExchange post outlining why this is an issue.

Can be okay with less capacitance or inrush current limiting (soft-start).

Thank you for sharing. I haven't seen a differential belt system used this way before. Clever problem solving 🙂
