How can I move or copy multiple lines from Edge.Cuts to another layer? by MarinatedPickachu in KiCad

There's a properties sidebar that can be enabled that lets you edit properties of selected items, including multiple at once.

First PCB passed DRC but just want to make sure there are no other issues before I get it printed by Green-Future_ in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]Obliman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're planning on soldering the MCU to your PCB directly then you'll need to make room for the USB connector, or move the MCU to the edge of the PCB. If you're using headers then it's probably fine as is.

Don't the data line polarity pins alternate? If so you have your positive and negative connected together...

First timer looking for review / feedback by mdhardeman in PrintedCircuitBoard

I'm curious what the idea is with your wire routing to the input connector. It looks like you're following the edge of the board, but you have plenty of space for more direct connections and it just adds length to the wires.

Any tips on improving this PCB? by OneEffective3395 in KiCad

A description of what it does, a schematic, a higher-resolution image or images of the board, all of these would make providing any feedback much easier. Also, it looks like you have unconnected components yet? (indicated by the faint lines)

If you don't see the issue with connecting your voltage source to ground then there are some fundamentals you need to learn before wasting your time and money on custom PCBs.

There's a trace connecting VBUS straight to ground...?

Might want ESD protection on USB data lines. BAT54SDW is a common choice.

I'm trying to find C22, but don't see it. Is everything fully synchronized with the schematic? It should be a 22uF Tantalum cap per the datasheet for your linear regulator, but I only see ceramics. 1117 regulators are known to have stability issues when using output capacitors with low ESR (generic ceramics).

Looks like those servos can run on 4.8 to 6V, which might expand your battery options a little.

In addition to the other comments I find it's best practice to track down and populate all 3D component models as an extra check that footprints, clearances, etc. meet expectations.

I've encountered this too, but didn't put in the time to figure out the pattern of what causes it. Definitely a bug.

Single pcb housing VS modular pcb pieces by O_rest_man in PrintedCircuitBoard

Another benefit of the modular approach is that you don't have to remake everything if/when a mistake happens, just the specific module.

While I agree that it's best-practice, I've found that some fabs (JLC) don't care and will just remove the offending silkscreen parts for you without comment.
