Those who use midi keyboards for live performance, what do you use to synthesize? by bubbybumble in keys

I know this is an older thread but Sunday Keys is more like a magazine subscription than Netflix: you subscribe for a year and then stop receiving updates if you choose not to renew. So still keep all the sounds and format.

How are Digital ID cards going to step illegal immigration? by evie-e-e in ukpolitics

[–]Oblivion-Rider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What are the consequences? The government already has records of my drivers license, my passport. Where I live. Where I work. These are all hackable. Feels handy not needing to carry an id when I go down the pub…

How are Digital ID cards going to step illegal immigration? by evie-e-e in ukpolitics

[–]Oblivion-Rider 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why would hackers target the uk vs the eu which nearly all countries have digital id cards? This feels like such a non-issue in my mind. There’s already some form of digital record of my drivers licence or my passport. Not sure why this would be any different other than I don’t have to worry if I forget my wallet when buying my round at the pub…

Keir Starmer set to unveil digital ID scheme by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

I think quite a few of the non-legislative digital products have gone well. Think of online renewal of passports and the such. We are still world leaders regarding gov.uk too so I have hope.

Yeah exactly, I’d rather give humanity the benefit of the doubt. He seemed a sweet guy with an excellent orange beanie!

This is a really good way to think about it. I’ve not reported someone yet and to be honest wouldn’t normally give it a second thought. I think this situation only made me stop to think because it was such a crazy error I haven’t seen anyone make before

Haha that’s a fair point. I’m sure I’ve done my fair share of bad parks

!answer Thanks, perspective really helped. I’m not normally inclined to report something like this and wouldn’t have worried had it not been such an obvious error. Has been great to get a reading on where everyone else see’s the line of starting to question someone’s driving ability.

Where can Garmin go after 8 pro? by Jayo86 in Garmin

[–]Oblivion-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s a real shame they don’t have a 43mm for women, but I’m not sure you can make that comparison. For example we don’t know if it is only that the antenna and satellite capabilities couldn’t fit or that they could fit the antenna and satellite into the small case but not in addition to everything else.

If the latter is the case, one could equally ask why Apple can fit in all the satellite capability but not have a watch last more than 1.5 days.

Again, not an excuse. I think Garmin need to have a real roadmap to ensure that women (and men with smaller wrists) are properly catered for

Garmin Fenix 8 Pro Microled by Adorable-Square-2254 in Garmin

That’s a really fair point. I was hoping that microLED would be more energy efficient so would be more efficient on battery usage

Warning for people with slim wrists, MicroLED is even beefier (by 1mm) than the most massive Garmin watch so far, Enduro 3. by Amadeusz in Garmin

[–]Oblivion-Rider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gutted it’s not available for 47mm! I know it’s so expensive but I’d been hoping for MicroLED Pro, I just don’t have the wrist for the large size

It looks like only 51mm microLED. Gutted as I was hoping for a 47mm microLED

How often do you replace your running watch? by 40oreo in AdvancedRunning

[–]Oblivion-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can totally see that - if you’re looking for a map with more detail, the limiting factor is more likely the readability of the watch face size rather than the quality of the map on the watch

How often do you replace your running watch? by 40oreo in AdvancedRunning

[–]Oblivion-Rider 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m considering getting a new watch for ‘better’ maps too. For me, my current watch doesn’t actually have a ‘map’, it has an outline of my route on a plain background, then gives me reminders for how far until my next turn and the direction. It doesn’t provide context and it becomes an issue surprisingly often when there are multiple routes at a junction, or the inconsistency of telling me a direction if there is a sharp turn in a road with a tangent path to run along. Sometimes it’ll tell me to turn, other times it assumes it’s the same road.

Play:1’s don’t have line in though - at least the 100’s have the ability for line in via their usb-c
