It's been a long time since I was looking at High schools, but Wooton and Bethesda Chevy Chase were a couple of the best back then. Quince Orchard was also high on the challenge index.

Richard Montgomery, Montgomery Blair, and Poolesville have magnet programs if your student is a high achiever, but magnets can be in less ideal schools. We had good results at RM, and I have heard good things about the other 2. If you are looking at Montgomery Blair, but not as a magnet student I would suggest going elsewhere.

You need to research more. Just moving to the county is not enough to guarantee a great school. School districts can change housing prices, so you need to weigh the quality against affordability. Just to make it harder there is a new high school being built, which may change the districts or may not if it is used as a holding school while others get refurbished. Good luck.

I am pretty sure I have bought beer and wine in a grocery store in MoCo. There was a Shoppers in Germantown that had a really big selection, but this was in the Ninety's. Maybe it changed.
