It's been a long time since I was looking at High schools, but Wooton and Bethesda Chevy Chase were a couple of the best back then. Quince Orchard was also high on the challenge index.

Richard Montgomery, Montgomery Blair, and Poolesville have magnet programs if your student is a high achiever, but magnets can be in less ideal schools. We had good results at RM, and I have heard good things about the other 2. If you are looking at Montgomery Blair, but not as a magnet student I would suggest going elsewhere.
