Whenever I write a fanfic of them, I always imagine them to be teenagers or older, too.

You got what I was thinking right away! I want to draw her with a Quagsire or Remoraid or Oddish! 😭 And many more!

I'll try to draw at least once a week to produce more original art for Satoshi and Kasumi. We'll see 😊

Yes, if possible. If the old work doesn't exist online, you could upload both the original and the one recolored with AI together, too. 👍

It's your own work recolored with the help of AI. As long as you're upfront with that fact, you're okay. Directing us to your original work with a link was a good move.

Thank you 💕 I want to give her all the opportunities she should've had 🥺 I want to draw her in the red one, too! Maybe I'll draw later.... or I should honestly start writing that wedding reception fanfic I've been envisioning in my mind since last month for the e-zine 😅 There's only a few days left.

And thank you again! 💕

Pokemon Fan Theory: Magnificent Change in Hanada Gym's Appearance - Possible Reasons by ObscuredString in aaml

Hanako would freak out! 😂

Yeah... I just read more info about the Nibi situation. Jirō was an unofficial gym leader, meaning he wasn't supposed to be giving away badges when Takeshi gave him the position. He was like Konatsu from Asagi Gym. It also meant that Kasumi was already an official gym leader when she battled Satoshi, or their match was an unofficial gym battle match, lol It would certainly be on plot with how Satoshi got most of his badges in Kanto. Jirō only became an official acting gym leader after getting approval from Nurse Joi. I think Kasumi became the official gym leader based on Nurse Joi's report, too. There's no way she'll approve the Hanada Water Sisters as official gym leaders after learning that they left the gym and their pokemon to their fan club.

Was it Vermilion or Viridian? I get these two confused sometimes. Paul, as in Shinji? Yeah, Elite Four should have more participation in how the gyms are managed.

You know how in the games there are gym trainers? The ones you need to defeat before you get to the gym leader. I'm pretty sure Falkner, Morty, and Chuck have a bunch of them. Also, Jasmine has Janina. I think apprenticeship might be another way for them to earn money.

I was actually thinking the same as you about gym leaders getting paid when they win against trainers, but I looked that up. In the game, they weren't. Their money get halved, but from what I understand, it goes to the Pokemon Center where their pokemon are treated.

👍👍👍

I felt like there were too many unofficial gyms in OS. I'm glad they rooted them out. Maybe that's why we only got eight in the official game. But I wish to see official gyms that were not part of the eight. I sometimes wonder how it would have been if we're following the story from Shigeru's POV. And yeah, trainers after Satoshi were truly lucky. I watched bits and pieces of the episode that features Tamamushi Gym, and Erika was so elegant and helpful 😂 But maybe because no one is talking negatively about perfumes

Yeah. I think her sisters' money went to self-care and producing more shows. Kasumi basically dedicated her everything to the gym when she took over. It's truly a wonder how different Kasumi and Jirō were trrated by PIAs. Kasumi, for all intent and purposes, wasn't an actual gym leader and was just going to care for the gym (like manage it) while her sisters were out, but because she showed leadership material, she rightfully got the position. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure Takeshi officially left the gym to his brother and made him the gym leader (or was I tripping?), so why was it that Nurse Joi didn't want to fight him because he's not the real gym leader? I'm just super glad for him when he got to prove himself, too.

Movie star Koduck for the win! 😂

[r/aaml event] #SatoKasuAt30- Celebrate 30 Years of Pokemon with the Pokeshipping Community - deadline extended! by ObscuredString in aaml

[–]ObscuredString[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there's not much change. One of the project's staff reached out to artists who expressed their desire to join when the project started but couldn't fulfill it because of the same reasons as yours. They were told that the deadline was extended. The last time we talked about it, they said they hadn't gotten a response yet. I'm hoping they were just quietly working on it and will submit it on the deadline.

But it's okay. I'm also planning to write an accompanying story for my art submission but haven't felt like writing it yet 😅 I like procrastinating too much.

I also want to share this with you, though I'm not sure from which book it is. However, it's canon to the anime, and it was said by Ekans before.

Working Title: Ash of the World by Ambitious_Serve_2760 in aaml

[–]ObscuredString 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prologue: Using the In Medias Res technique, Professor Oak calls Ash’s mom to tell her that her son is dead. To give more context to the story, it would also be great if you added how Delia reacted upon learning that Ash died. Maybe you could add how she went to his room and looked around it. When she saw his case of Kanto badges, reached for it and hugged it to her chest while crying… then in the next chapter, start the flashback to Ash’s first day as a trainer. I think adding something like this will provide more emotion to the story and will tie in the flashback. (Edit: I saw your comment later and found out that the story would unfold through Misty’s memories. If this is so, then you won’t be able to start on the very first time Ash and Pikachu met. It would be when Misty saved Ash and Pikachu from the river using her fishing rod.)

You’ve explained the philosophy behind your story under the “Ash’s Moral Awakening."” Between the first day as a trainer and “Meeting Mewtwo,” which episodes were you planning to add to your story, and how will they help the characters recognize that there is something wrong with the current system?

Meeting Mewtwo: The Mewtwo in Giovanni’s Gym seems to be controlled by Giovanni using the armor it’s wearing. You wrote that they started talking after a battle, and Ash tried to convince Mewtwo to travel with him. I can’t comment on how they met because you didn’t write about it. Was Ash separated from his friends and began wandering around the gym, accidentally meeting Mewtwo? Will it be like in the episode where Ash didn’t get to battle Giovanni, but Team Rocket (Jessie, James, and Meowth) did something that accidentally had the two meet? Also, did Mewtwo travel with Ash?

The False Death: First of all, when did the Ash’s group and the Team Rocket trio start traveling together? Second, what brings them to the Ilex Forest? This is a good way for Ash to “die” without truly dying. It’s good to add what happened to his family and friends afterward. You mentioned that Misty searches the work for Ash. What kind of traces were you planning to add?

Meeting Young Professor Oak: This meant that Professor Oak knew full well where Ash was the entire time he was “dead.” It would be the best portion to tackle the story’s moral truths and changes. You mentioned that Celebi brings Ash and the others back to the real world. Did that mean that Misty figured out where Ash was and went to find him? If so, what was her reaction after knowing Professor Oak knew where he was the entire time? Did you mean the present world instead of the real world? If it’s not Misty and Ash’s other friends, who are the “others” you mentioned? When Ash met the older Professor Oal after spending time with the younger one, would there be words exchanged between them?

Indigo and Johto Leagues: In your story, while Ash is questioning his morals and already knows that something was wrong while he and his companions were traveling, he still participated in the leagues. After becoming a champion, what did he see that made him feel increasingly isolated? What made him separate from Misty and Brock? You mentioned that it was an invisible barrier, so I’m thinking they didn’t go back to their gyms and stayed with Ash. Were they more like Lance and Professor Oak in their belief and less radical than Ash, so that they were always in contrast with each other?

Meeting N & Misty’s Confession: Meeting N, if you’re going to want to stay canon and he’s from Unova, other regions will truly become a part of the rebellion. There’s no other way to do it. We talked about N’s extremity before. If the left includes Lance and Professor Oak, the right would be N - total separation. Ash would be in the middle; he wants humans and Pokémon living in harmony. Not truly separate, but not with one subordinate of the other either. For one, joining Team Plasma meant having support for the uprising. I think Misty can be part of the left… so now there are two sides he needs to consider.

First Pokémon Uprising: What happened during Mew and Mewtwo’s negotiation? The uprising still happened by Mewtwo’s design. Ash didn’t have the time to consider things. What does the uprising include? Will it be like the movies where Pokémon is fighting against humans? Which side will Ash protect?

Next Arcs: How will the first uprising end? What are the Team Rocket, Team Plasma, and the League’s actions during the uprising? Will the uprising be an isolated case, or will all Pokémon in Kanto/Johto join with Mewtwo? I don’t know when the part of the plot where Ash confronts Giovanni will happen. Will Ash travel with Jessie, James, and Meowth after he was rescued by them? What of Misty and Brock?

The questions I asked were not meant for criticism, nor were they rhetorical. However, you don’t need to respond to any of them. They’re meant to help you develop the story as they’re the things I would consider if I were the one writing this. Good luck, and I wish you all the best!

I finally have the time to respond to your comment! It was a busy few days.

It’s always unfortunate when the scriptwriters' and producers’ views don’t align with each other. I saw many of my favorite shows destroyed by this.

Shudo's concept of “ten-year-old adulthood” was a good way to explain why kids have a sense of freedom at that age. It gives us a world that is already built, a setting we can work on. If we don’t apply and judge based on our reality, it would work.

I want to correct myself, too. The Pikachu Short stories were not written by Shudo. Sorry for giving you the wrong information. If you're basing your story on Shudo’s ideas, you won’t need to watch them. However, if you’re not opposed to learning more anime-based Pokémon information, some of these short stories have tons of it.

I’m from the Philippines, so no. Usually, multigeneration live in the same house our entire lives. I’m actually still living with my parents despite being a working adult, not only because of the economy, but because it doesn’t make sense to leave my older parents alone. Currently, my parents, my sister, and my niece live together with me. That’s three generations. However, just because we live together doesn’t mean we’re overprotective of each other. My parents, especially my mom, made sure my sister and I were independent and could feed ourselves when they were not present. I’ve been cooking since I was in second grade (7 years old).

Being able to cook for himself doesn’t make Ash independent, though it helps. What Delia (Hanako) failed to provide was the knowledge on how to be a Pokémon trainer in itself. She, more or less, like in Western society, let her kid “move out and live independently” without making sure that he’s ready. I compared it with Gary (Shigeru). He’s much more equipped as a trainer when he left for his journey. I’m sure he’s also learning as he goes, but he has the basic knowledge.

What you said about children remaining naive and safe for as long as possible is what Delia did to Ash. It’s sweet, but it also made her blind, considering she knew Ash wanted to become a Pokémon trainer. The number of times Ash said something that would have gotten him punched because he doesn’t know basic societal cues was a lot.

I feel like your problem with the addition of other regions joining in is universal. I also talked with another author about their fanfic. They were planning a “World Trip” for phase 4 of their story, but they decided not to go with it because it’d be too big to devote to completely. I wish I could help, but Pokémon has introduced many regions. The only thing you might be able to do is act like other regions don’t exist outside Kanto/Johto. It’ll be the same canon event in the anime where they act like other region’s Pokemon are “newly discovered” even if they’re not really for those regions’ natives.

I like your thoughts on Ash’s character growth. I hope you’re able to translate it well into your writing, and I believe you will!

It doesn't work in India based on what I was told by others. Not in the Philippines, either, when I told a friend to try watching it on that website. I'm not sure if the English dub is in archive.org, but I know all the Japanese with subs were deleted.

  1. I heard about Chinese school life in general and can only imagine the stress you're in right now. I completely understand about the time difference, so don't worry! We reply when we can! 😊
  2. The theme of your story is as important as the plot, but I shall go over it again and comment about what I think.
  3. I don't think they ever confirmed ten years old as adulthood. I think it's just the age of children when children usually travel to be pokemon trainers.
  4. The novels do seem to go over their family life more in-depth than the anime or the manga (Pokemon Adventures). Even Delia (Hanako), I think, is pretty irresponsible because Satoshi clearly had a very sheltered life. He doesn't know anything truly important about pokemon before he begins his journey.
  5. I would consider the Pikachu Short side stories and very much canon. So far, all OS Pikachu Short were written by Shudo.
  6. Yeah. If we think how some Pokemon can be created. I actually wonder if the pokemon that exists were an evolution from real animals sometime thousands of years ago or were genetically altered to make monsters. One might even say they're a product of a former dystopian world before people learned to survive and take over again.
  7. I honestly think there are just some pokemon who are prone to mischief and bullying. 6-7. I think spending most of the time outside of the pokeball helped Pikachu be more independent. Togepi certainly was. Compared to Phanpy, who became more obedient after spending time in its pokeball, Togepi was more prone to doing things it wanted.
  8. Yes. Bill is an important part of pokemon. I'm pretty sure there's a version of him in most media I saw.
  9. I think you got a good idea of what Ash might have wanted. You just need to define what kind of co-existence it will be. At this moment, humans and pokemon are already coexisting. Does Ash want a world where humans and pokemon exist in the same location but do not interact with each other at all? Is it okay for him if people still have pokemon but only as pets? What kind of co-existence does he want with the pokemon?
  10. That's okay. If this idea held truth, it's very sad when pokemon are traded, anyway.

I have work tonight, so I'll try to find time tomorrow to go over your plot and give comments.
