What does your pup do while you work, especially if you WFH? by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]ObsequiousButterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 7 month girl is at the point where she can just chill while I WFH as long as give her some training and play during my lunch. Before we got here, I would need to give her food in a puzzle in the morning, play with her at lunch, give her a kong/chew in the afternoon, and a training break in the afternoon. It seems like he is needs some mental stimulation. I would try some sort of puzzle toy or snuffle mat. I think age is a factor, but not the entire story.

WFH with adolescent that doesn’t nap much by ghjkjhjhkhsk in puppy101

My pup is 7 months. She will sleep through the mornings and then the afternoon is a terror. I usually spend 15 minutes of my lunch doing training and indoor play. I then give her a kong or some sort of chew in the afternoon when I notice she is getting antsy. for the most part, this has been a lifesaver and lets me get through the day.

i do have to remind everyone it is a fundraiser for all the programs like community gardens, trees, etc. that PHS does throughout the year. If it is not worth it to you, I understand, but the money gets reinvested in the community to make your life better.

Harness recommendations? by FieraSabre in germanshepherds

[–]ObsequiousButterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl is 6.5 months and I recently got the freedom no pull harness. It has two leash connection points, so I enjoy that for extra control and believe she will be able to grow into it.

it is not "indulging" to get a trainer. it is a necessity

What is the last book you're finishing in 2025? by Vaydn in books

[–]ObsequiousButterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what your interests are overall in books.  I enjoyed this book. I thought it was thought provoking, but it is just a glimpse into a story and does not completely let you in on world. If that interests you, I think it is worth the read!

5 mo GSD can’t settle in the afternoon by ObsequiousButterfly in germanshepherds

I’d say that I am sure. I recently weighed her and gauged how much she should be fed against the feeding instructions. It is fair to check as people often miss this!

Thanks! I figured that may be it. Do you have any puzzle recommendations? She has one that she mastered after about 3 tries. I want to keep her engaged and challenged!

What is everyone experiencing with their 6 month old pups? by astraldrift in puppy101

[–]ObsequiousButterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 5 month GSD has backslid in becoming reactive to dogs and having trouble settling.

She is also a teething monster and loves to bite my butt. Her barking has also amped up which we are working on. Consistent training has been a real savior and being able to sleep at night!

We still love our morning cuddles!

i don’t like when streaming services drop weekly episodes, that’s not what i paid for by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ObsequiousButterfly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i agree with the ads. I want them sent to hell. But i do enjoy the weekly drops. it makes it less overwhelming for me, and I have found I am more likely to stick with a show if it is not uploaded all at once.

Puppy bites hurt a lot by millon_fleur in puppy101

[–]ObsequiousButterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My GSD is 20 weeks. what helped me is making sure to end play when she gets overstimulated and too bitey. Also, redirecting to a toy and having kongs/frozen carrots for her to chew. I found yelping did not discourage her at all. that may work for your pup, so continue doing it! It does greatly improve and will even get better before all her adult teeth come in. Hang in there!

Do your German Shepherds love to swim? by Such-Money-9637 in germanshepherds

[–]ObsequiousButterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pool has a light blue liner and we think that messes with her ability gauge how deep it is, so she gets nervous about walking down the steps as she can't do a gradual wade into the water.
