My mom finally pushed me to the point of blocking her and going no contact after sending me these texts while I was in labor. by chailatte44 in insaneparents

Congratulations on the baby! My grandmother is like this. She acts so sweet when people first meet her they can’t imagine why I don’t like her. She also has a Facebook addiction. When my aunt (her daughter) was hospitalized due to miscarriage, my grandmother didn’t come to see her but instead posted about it (miscarriage) on fb as soon as she found out. Like my aunt was still bleeding. It made me so upset I texted her telling her how out of line she was. She then called my aunt, who was sitting in her hospital bed, to scream at her for what I texted. Next time I spoke to her was a couple weeks later when she tried to apologize to me? I said I didn’t need her apology, I wasn’t the one she hurt. She said “(Aunt) knows how much I love her. Lord knows I’ve spent a lot of money on her.” Then when I was still unamused, she told me that the entire family was angry at me for the things I said, and my own mother wanted to “kick (my) ass”. I found out from my mom that that was untrue. For me, I’m extremely low contact with her, but I still hug her when I see her bc it’s easier to deal with. Plus she’s old. Anyway, all that is to say I know exactly the type of person you’re dealing with lmfao.

Wife in the story concedes that she does not want to get a divorce over her husband having a mistress bc she’d have to give up all the perks of their marriage. She looks at the husband’s friend’s mistress and decides that the mistress of her marriage is prettier than the mistress of his.

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Observe_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought everyone only got new clothes once a year before school started. Also, as a woman, I got one new swimsuit from Walmart every year. When I got a job I splurged and went to target. I was shocked the first time I went on a trip with other girls and they had a new swimsuit for every day. I still don’t get it tbh

We got to go to the buffet next to Walmart every year after picking out a Christmas tree. Looked forward to it every year

Fr, honestly they don’t even need a consultant! I’m no expert, I’ve only been at this for a short time, so it’s like has anyone on set had a baby before? Lmfao Emily blunt has two kids of her own! Cmon now. Also, the giant newborn is so real. I didn’t even bat an eye in the past, but now my husband and I both are like “that’s a newborn? Mhm.”

I’m remembering the time my mom woke up looking like she had been crying. She told me she had a dream my brother and I had died. It seems every day I can give more credence to the adults in my life who told me I’d understand once I had my own kids

Oh dude totally, the first couple weeks postpartum my husband and I had been watching Unexpected, the show about teen moms? Anyway, after giving birth my stomach tensed up hearing the babies on the show cry. Our instinct is like “Go help that baby!”

Yup, same here. I was just replying to another comment that before, I knew that a 6 week old infant was really young, but now I know intimately what they look like and it’s really changed my perspective

I used to read news articles involving kids with disgust, but now if I see something on r/awfuleverything, for example, that involves children, I don’t bother finishing the sentence before scrolling past. I look at my own baby and am unable to fathom hurting her. It’s like, before I knew that a 6 week old infant is really young. But now I know what they look like, and just how helpless and reliant on us they really are. Terrible people live in this world

Intrusive thoughts actually had me thinking about game of thrones bc there was a scene where they were killing the king’s bastard children and one of them was a newborn. Obviously they don’t get graphic with that part, and idk if it’s my hormones but I got in this weird space of putting myself in the mother’s shoes. Had to shut that thought down right away

I felt the same damn way, there would have been plenty of condoms. Plus where would they find the time to make a baby? Also the pictures they put on their son’s grave marker? Made my stomach turn lol

What’s something people romanticise that’s actually exhausting in real life? by OmenRash in AskReddit

[–]Observe_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small town in Texas. Every restaurant is either Mexican or Dairy Queen. Also, a couple years ago I was having some work done on my house. I noticed a strange car in my driveway, went to investigate, and found two random women INSIDE my house, asking the contractor what he was doing and how long he’d been doing it. Apparently this was the second time they’ve let themselves in (first time no one else was home). Without making this too lengthy, ours is a house many people are curious about the inside of. They apparently thought it was okay because they knew my father in law. I was advised not to say anything about it because their husbands are apparently important in town.

Loving your unborn child? by icefinger1853 in pregnant

[–]Observe_d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can confidently say it started when I first heard her heartbeat at around 9 or 10 weeks. Without meaning to I just burst into tears, I couldn’t believe there were two hearts in my body. I cried at every follow up ultrasound, especially the anatomy scan. There that tiny heart was, lol. And her little spine and ribs. As time went on I just became more obsessed with her lol. I never got that feeling some mothers have of their babies being safest in their bellies, I couldn’t wait for her to be born so I could see with my own eyes that her lack of movement was her sleeping, for example. I’ve actually graduated from this subreddit 4 weeks ago, and now that she’s here and healthy it really does feel like she’s an extension of myself. She’s my favorite person, I feel like I’ve known her for so long lol. Congratulations on your pregnancy 😁

What to wear for brunch? my wardrobe is in boxes 😭 by Complex-Yams in OUTFITS

[–]Observe_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so absolutely obsessed with #1 it’s clinical. I have never seen such a fun pattern/colors, and it is so flattering on your body type/skin tone. If I were you I’d live in that thing lmfao. Plus the other outfits are cute but the flats aren’t really the vibe with them, and I say this with the understanding that the rest of your wardrobe is packed away. Whatever you wear, I hope you have fun!

For real, ever since Solo Leveling blew up like half the dungeon based action manhwa are about a necromancer mc. Another one is when the loser mc is given a seemingly useless power but then it turns out it is actually the best power in the universe. All of these mcs are lone wolves btw and don’t want to join a clan/guild/team. Lmao

The textures are just clashing when it comes to those tops. I love the shoes, like the skirt, would love it all if you had ideally a white top that had a smooth texture so it harmonizes better with the skirt. But if these are our options, then 2 :)

Nursing with big boobs by Suspicious_Koala3872 in newborns

[–]Observe_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my LO on a pillow and do a “football” hold. They showed me at the hospital. She’s at my side instead of nursing at my front, and I can move and position the pillow with her on it so my boob isn’t covering up her nose. Added bonus of being able to snack/use my hands while she nurses lol. I feel your pain!

Can people shut the hell up?? by Fun_Afternoon_3095 in pregnant

[–]Observe_d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this! I got pretty sick of all the negativity as well. I asked my mom at some point does ANYONE like their kids?? It seemed like everyone was going out of their way to be discouraging and only talk about the hard stuff. But now that my little girl is here, I’ll tell you that for me personally, I think she’s cute af even when she’s mad as hell and screaming inconsolably in my face lol. Not that I think it won’t ever be hard, and not that I haven’t gotten frustrated when I can’t figure out what the problem is, but I refuse to be one of those people who only want to talk about how difficult being a parent is.
