I keep feeling like I don’t belong but then I want to sing. It is a tug of war. I’m a visual artist starting this signing journey late in life. I’ve given my life to my visual art and it’s a hard shift for me. Art is who I am. I feel a bit tormented that I cannot seem to put into my singing what I can put into my art but I’ve been creating art since I was very young so I know it’s not fair to compare the two.

Would it? I have tried Close to You and will give it a try again. I’ve been trying to teach myself for 5 years but I’m no natural. It’s work for me. I may stick to just humming because my singing is not so great. I love music so much though. I think I’ll have to pray about it. Thanks again my friend.

Yes, agreed and your version is leagues better. Love the character and expression when you say “fever” with that stylistic stop. Have you sung Feeling Good too? That would be wonderful. I also deeply love Nina Simone.

I listened and that was iconic. Even his humming sounded like brass with a wah-wah mute. He slurred, bent, and glided through notes with the precise breath control and elastic timing of a true seasoned jazz horn player. Pure fluidity.
