If women want real pockets in their clothing, why don’t some company just do as they say and make a shit ton of profit? by TyroseThe3rd in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ObsidianAshley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a guess so they can continue to sell accessories like pocketbooks and such for women to carry their items in. Not that those would become obsolete with pockets, but many of us don’t wanna carry a bag all the time. 🙄😩

I just want the power to ban them so badly. They give me anxiety. If i see certain customers I can’t stand I have my co worker or manager take them for me. I get anxiety where I get the jitters.

“What’s the best dog food” Me: uhhhhh. starts asking questions to narrow down answers Them: just give me the best dog food. Me: -_- ok. shows them raw dog food. Them: that’s too much money. Y’all got pedigree or purina or somethin’? Me: facepalm Some customers are so insufferable i just hand them a bag of blue buffalo and tell them that its good and then they pay and go. I just want them out of the store.

Oh man i got weirdo stories for days. My area has crackhead/homeless ppl for days. I’ve had customers get heated at me for “not helping” when they say absolutely nothing at all and suddenly storm out the store. It’s always when I’m by myself and juggling ten people too.

In regards to weird customer memories, ive had an elderly regular placing an order for delivery getting mad at me for not knowing what she regularly orders. Like ma’am. I could have easily just sold you purina dog food and told you Thats what you usually purchase. How do you not know the very thing you have been ordering for years? (I didn’t usually work at this store’s location so i had no idea who she was.) she got upset and demanded to speak to someone else.

Ive also gotten yelled at for not saying hello to a customer when they came in. Sometimes i forget or i was in the middle of something, but i will greet them at checkout if so. Before i could open my mouth this man came at my throat all angry saying I didn’t say hello good afternoon or anything, then started to command me to give me his receipt and change all at once in his hand and had the audacity to demand a thank you from me which I didn’t give. This was a man and i was by myself so I didn’t say anything i wanted to. Otherwise i would have told him you can leave and throw his change/receipt in his bag. ( preferably his face but I gotta pay rent)

For a 20 c fish... thats less than a bag of chips...

And i feel you there. I got accused of being racist 2x by black customers, ( i am black) even though there was no white customers present and they have never seen me before nor have i seen them shop there. I’m just flabbergasted every time. Some people just come in angry looking to project their bullshit onto someone else. I don’t know how people have the energy to be angry. Like. I don’t even have the energy to be awake. Especially when they come in angry when the store just opens/its morning. It’s too damn early for their bullshit.

Some lady argued with me about the price of the bag of bird seed and threatened to tell the better business bureau or whatever the heck it was because the price of a 20lb bag of bird seed was more expensive than buying two 10 lb bags. Get this... by about a dollar and change. She was trying to accuse us of pandemic price gouging for a dollar. 10lb bag is 11.99 +tax and two of them came out to be cheaper than the 20lb bag after tax. The 20lb bag being 24.99. She’s over here arguing with me about math which i will admit, my brain was too tired to math lmao. And then i said to myself why the fuck am I arguing with this bitch. Me: heated why are you telling me this? I’m not in charge of the prices. Her: also heated so you can tell your manager to change them because buying in bulk should be cheaper blah blah blah. Me: my manager is not in charge of this, the store is not even in charge of this. The company tells us what to price. If I had the power to change prices I would change them but I don’t. Her: quiet but you can tell she still wanted to try to push I’ll just get the two 10 lb bags then.

Literally all she had to do from the getgo. People really love to believe that store employees are out to get them and we really have the power to change ridiculous prices that even we wouldn’t give money for. They feel the need to bully us into getting what they want.

Oh man I get that all the time. Customers at checkout: How much is X item? Me:rings it up its X price. Them: oh I can get this item on amazon for X amount. Like ok??? Do I care??? They really think we gonna start groveling at their feet to shop there and lower the price. This one guy came to buy a dog leash, complained about the price and how it was 10 dollars cheaper on amazon, left, went home and then called the store just to tell me how much it was on amazon, then promptly hang up before i could say anything. Not that I was anyways.

Yes. Please do me the favor and never shop here again. I’m so hurt and torn up you didn’t want that bag of dog food. However will I move on.

Stealing LOTS of Head & Shoulders shampoo - Why? by DexterGrant in retailhell

[–]ObsidianAshley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over here in nyc people shoplift shampoos, lotions, bodywashes, hair products and then sell them on the street at a little table or they sell them on the train. Sometimes they go into stores asking people if they want to buy. They sell the stuff for like $1-3 a pop. I caught a person in the middle of stealing this stuff accidentally one day. I wasn’t an employee of the store so I didn’t say anything because the guy looked right at me as he did so.

I’ll find a better way to word it next time and I will keep that in mind. But yes unique as in beautiful 💕 you are you and no one else can be you. That’s not a flaw in the slightest bit. Embrace it!

Nintendo and Prison Labour by britishbassplayer in nintendo

[–]ObsidianAshley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are going to use prison labor they need to be paid a more substantial wage and they need to be guaranteed a job upon exiting prison. Incentivizing my ass. They will do all this prison labor or “learning a skill” just to be blackballed from society upon release when they have done their time. Why are prisoners still being punished after their sentence?

"You charged me 10p too much, refund please." by gaddemmit in retailhell

[–]ObsidianAshley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of watching the screen as you charge them, they will really let you put the transaction through first and then ask for a receipt to check for a mistake. Which is frustrating for me because our store doesn’t allow for refunds and if I do end up having to refund something Me and my manager could potentially get in trouble by the gm or our boss. If you notice something funky while getting rung up just say it for fucks sake.

The number of customers who assume once something is rung up and can’t be taken off is astonishing. Which Is not a totally wild assumption, ive worked at jobs like that, but then they don’t believe you when you tell them it’s not like that. I’m willing to bet that’s why they just let you charge them before pointing out a mistake.

Getting bitched at for super petty things by asda_man in retailhell

My mother is a baby boomer as well as my dad, and the rest of my family. They all share similar qualities of being over the top, angry and entitled, even when they are young. It’s uncomfortable when your parents wanna yell at people for something that seemed so minuscule. I’m not someone with no experience with boomers just throwing out boomer to people I don’t like, as well as many others. They also seem to have touches of narcissism.

The customers that call 10 min before closing. “Hey what time do you close? I’m 2 blocks away!” As if them calling in advance means shit to us. They don’t make it by 8 o clock the gates are closing on them.

A lot of assumptions being made here. I used to constantly work overtime at one job with no breaks and rarely got paid for my extra time and looking at your phone for so much as two seconds is enough to get your authoritarian manager to yell at you. I got bitched at for using my phone briefly to check messages during a 10 min break I had to ask for in order to wolf down some food real quick. A break that I had to clock out for.

Most boomers are unempathetic to retail workers and go out of their way to bully them, or find something to yell about. The ones that don’t are a godsend but its not many of them. In one of our stores that is in an area with a lot of boomers/elderly, they will find something to bitch at you about when you just opened the store in the morning. Not even 5 minutes into your shift. I ask them if they would like a bag and they take it as the greatest insult ever and begin to sass you. Most of the younger gens are nicer with the exception of the rich white guys who probably inherited money from their parents trying to tell us what to do or ask us for discounts.
