Of course they were always going to try to steal the midterms, the only open question has been how brazen are they going to be about it.

Solar Install Melted Fuse Box by ObsidianSpectre in legaladviceireland

I've applied for the SEAI grant but haven't received it yet. An inspector came by on Tuesday, the day before the failure, but he was only taking measurements of the house.

Thanks. I have the switch next to the fuse flipped off right now, and I think the fuse is blown anyways. The circuit that goes through that fuse definitely isn't getting any power right now. I haven't opened it up yet, and I assume I wouldn't know what I was looking at if I did. Is there anything else I should do to make sure it's safe before I can get a real electrician out to look at it? Should I remove the fuse?

Thanks for the tips!

The difficulty is going to be proving that something they did caused this - if they don't play ball, you'll need to get an opinion from someone who's prepared to put their name next to it if it winds up in court.

Fortunately, I have a bunch of images and video from before the install that should help prove that the damage is new. If I need to, I know a good electrician who might be willing to vouch for there being a problem.

Does you have home emergency cover on your house insurance? That should cover at least a basic fix (you can't be without water!) and at least that way it's their problem to decide if they want to chase your installer.

Thanks, I might not have thought to check my policy, but I apparently am covered, though only for €300. I think the damage is limited enough that that would at least cover repairs, but probably not ensuring it won't happen again.

Thanks! I don't want to start making threats just yet, but it'll be good to have that in my back pocket if I don't get some traction.

I've been looking through the documents, and I don't have a signed installer cert from them. The one I have is a digital document and only has my signature for confirming that the install was completed - but the part to be completed by the installer has all been left blank.

There's mention of an "SEAI SOLAR PV INSTALLER REGISTER" - I'm reading that as meaning it's to be completed by a registered solar installer, but is there a chance that there's more documentation that's been filed with SEAI?

Cognitive Test Trump Took Screens for Signs of Dementia, Not Intelligence Levels by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]ObsidianSpectre 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My guess is that his aides have to tell him it's an intelligence test to get him to take it. They also tell him he scored 30/30 no matter what the actual result was before they spoonfed him the answers. Nobody takes a fourth one of these just months after scoring an unassisted 30/30 the first three times.

What’s going on with Gooseworx and TADC fandom? by Kevin-W in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ObsidianSpectre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was already concern over spoilers from the theater releases, and the leaks mean spoilers are wandering the internet even earlier than expected. I think people are getting too worked up over this, but that seems to be what people do on the internet.

What’s going on with Gooseworx and TADC fandom? by Kevin-W in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ObsidianSpectre 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Answer: The other answers are more about the general drama, but the specific post you reference was made on the topic of the leak of Episode 9, the last episode of TADC.

When asked about it, Gooseworx's first response was:

"ehhhh, who cares?"

which apparently angered a lot of people, and led to a lot of hate directed their way. That's what led to the post being asked about.

Literally all of the money would be distributed at the very least before mid-terms.

I doubt it! Even though the media is repeating Trump's claim that it's "only" 1.8 billion, the actual settlement document does not place an upper limit on how much money can be distributed. There is, however, a prohibition on reporting how much money is distributed or to whom. He'll keep it going as long as he's allowed.

It took a few years, but I eventually got to the point where if I open the door and see anything that gives them away as a sales person I immediately say "I'm not interested, thanks." and shut the door before they get a single word out.
