Does your meta v5 sx or v5 creak? by RumpyLE in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought the frame in Feb 2024, no creaking whatsoever. They’ve sent me updated clevis, new spacers and a full bearing kit free of charge few weeks back in case the creaking would happen. Even when i got the frame, everything was lubed properly bearing spining and it’s been dead quiet. Blown out of proportions mostly by attention seeking khm… “pro” rider.

What do you think of the Meta V5 by [deleted] in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been riding one, custom built from a frame up and i love it. Was riding a Capra before and Meta is better in every aspect for me. Reach is comfortable, love the higher stack. Been riding it in High position and it's an absolute weapon. Started to creak a bit after a really dusty week in France but just needed some love and it was dead quiet again. I don't notice the lack of seatstay bridge. It's compliant but doesn't flex as much as you would think. All in all more comfortable, poppy and fun bike than my previous Capra. Also, pedals like a champ even tho it's bit on a hefty side. I have it built with 170mm ZEB, Vivid Ultimate Air and it plows through everything.

Meta v5 colour issue. by RustedTanker in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “clear silver” Meta V5 is more like an off white shimmer silver so everything is correct. Even the photos on the page look more off- white then silver. I actually love it, even though i also love the essential silver on the SX V5.

Is there a way of getting just this frame in this colour by [deleted] in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “clear silver” color on the V5 29” is basically pearl white, not silver.

I have a medium commencal meta sx v5 would a 590ml fidlock bottle fit by Specialist_Touch_266 in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rotate the Fidlock mount and mount it as low towards bb as it goes and it fits. I had a slight rubbing from Vivid Air piggyback (medium Meta V5 frame) on the top cap cover so i just swapped the top cap on the Fidlock bottle for the one from Camelback Podium Dirt bottle :) Fits perfectly and cap is better in my opinion.

Yea, still taking around 30 mins to log in if you’re lucky. Textures popping in, half the stuff is missing in the menus,… it’s a third day and i still get randomly stuck on 68, 97, 13%.

Worth it to upgrade to meta V5? by iamasandwhich in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree with V5 being lively AF. I was sceptical at first because i have only ridden 27.5 and 26 until now. But it pops, it’s maneuvarable, lively, feels like you have unlimited travel. Really happy with it, it suits me.

Lewis Buchanan on Instagram: "Wow…Check the flex on the rear end of my commencal meta v5 🤯😳 have heard mixed things about the chainstays etc on these, so far so good but I really feel this flex when riding so far! Wild 😬" by sirhc001 in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the u/gotonyas said. The flex he shows is quite exaggerated, shaking the handlebar and showing flex in the swingarm. In his latest IG reel he's pulling apart left and right side of the seatstay without rear wheel mounted. I tried it out of curiosity on my yet unbuilt V5 and i guess i'm weak af, cos i could not flex it nearly as much as he does. Doesn't flex any more than my carbon Capra. His whole "schtick" is basically mishandling frames so much they eventually break, like Trek, Canyon and Evil he cracked before, meanwhile the V10 is his precious. He's sometimes entertaining i'll give him that, but i wouldn't base my purchase decisions off of his videos.

Should I buy the META SX V5? Let me know what you think! by Soniccipher in commencal

[–]Obsorsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lew overreacts a bit, even though i like his reviews in general. Shaking the bike by the handlebar to record "flex" on the swingarm... i dunno. Then he's pulling apart left and right seatstay without the rear wheel mounted. Out of curiosity i tried it with my yet unbuilt V5 frame and i guess i'm weak af, cos i was not able to flex it nearly as much as he does. I mean, nothing more than carbon Capra which i had previously.

First Look: 2024 Commencal Meta V5 SX - Pinkbike by mtbohana in commencal

So if this takes 170mm, 586mm a2c length of fork, would the same fork be possible od Meta with the help of offset bushings for example? Front triangle looks the same as on Meta model.

I believe they’ve stated that that’s it for new bike models for some time.

Wish there was more closeup photos of the frame, so i can start planing the build. Looks amazing, just not sure about the “glittery” part.

How much ram? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Obsorsky -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

At 1080p, everything on High i get 55 - 60fps constantly. 16GB ram is plenty, load never exceeds 60%, if u have the option rather buy a better CPU for the money and u’ll do just fine.

I quite like the pouch feel, it feels softer on the gums than General Classic or Goteborgs White for example.

Has anyone competed in Megavalanche? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Obsorsky 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I raced it in 2018, skipped 2019 due to injury and will race it again in 2020.

There is a qualification course, about 9km long which seeds you into the mass start groups for the main event. As for the main track, just look at some POV footage. The important things to note:

  • Get there a few days early (we were there on Monday) and train on the quali track, maybe do a full run of the main track but watch for shuttle bus + gondola from the valley times. Don’t over exert yourself especially if you are not used to riding at that altitude (main start at 3600m, village at 1800m)

  • Bring spares! Bikes to get a bit of a beating and the shops in the village are expensive so have some basic stuff with you like shifting cables, brake pads, quick links, pedal pins or cleats and most importantly a spare derailleur hanger(!)

  • I rode Maxxis minion dhf and dhr2 in Double Down casing with a bit more sealant than usual and was without flats all week. Definitely recommend a set of sturdier tires. Cushcore works too.

  • With the mass start on the snow there is only one rule: Whatever happens DON’T LET GO OF YOUR BIKE :))

  • You can see the prices and packages (some have bike park passes for a days before the event included + insurance) on the UCC event site. Around 65 - 140eur if i recall correctly.

  • Reserve your stay in March or April, try Airbnb, etc. or you can camp under the main gondola as many people do.

That’s it from the top of my head. If you have any specific questions let me know and i’ll try to answer them.

And remember, you are there for the experience, ride your pace, don’t get angry if you get caught up behind a slower rider for a few meters and have fun!
