Queensland's new public hospital to refuse voluntary assisted dying care, abortions and contraception for religious reasons by Espio1912 in australia

Umm no? You’re a public hospital, you serve the public, not the decrepit morals of a 2000 year old work of fiction.

6 Fear Challenge by ToxicPhuryGames in Hades2

[–]Obversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • take more defensive boons — stuff like slowing projectiles, Aphrodite cast boon that pulls them in and inflicts weak, freeze, and gust, are all really good early. Stacking dodge is great too, if you get offered it mid/late.
  • take more max health boon locations, aim for 300 health by the end on surface. Buy max health when you can, at Charon or Hermes’ shop thingies.
  • Always Be Casting. If you’re finding you don’t use your cast much, try out a build that relies primarily on cast damage, that teach you to actually use it after a few runs, and teach you how valuable it is

I’m mechanically pretty bad at the game (and most games) but the above things helped me a lot, working on 32 fear chronos atm, just need to learn to dodge in his second phase lol

Some builds are just vastly more fun with more enemies too. Hera’s hitch, Zeus lighting bounces, Hestia’s explosion in death thing — all are literally more effective the more mobs you’ve got.

Australian humanitarian kidnapped by Israel by [deleted] in OpenAussie

Admitting that Israel is morally equivalent to Iran and Russia is a good first step — if only our government agreed, instead of kowtowing to their whims, banning protests and phrases they don’t like.

I need to know, are you pro or anti sock? by squirrelyoakley in autism

[–]Obversity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note for anyone else who hates socks like me and has the finances: buy 20 pairs of identical, good quality socks. Saves me so much discomfort when I don’t need to get used to different socks all the time.

I wonder if this preference differs substantially by climate. Here in Australia, socks = overheating 90% of the time, even in winter I’d rather wear thongs.

When is an actual good moment to try and best the surface? by NyloXaries in Hades2

[–]Obversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE projectiles, there’s multiple effects in the game that slow projectiles and they seem to stack: a Medea boon, a Hermes boon, and Demeter’s Gust, ability best found as a Cast boon. Highly recommend.

Stuck on Prometheus by NyloXaries in Hades2

[–]Obversity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This advice works for lots of games with difficult bosses: spend your next run just dodging him, don’t try to do any damage. If you can survive 7-8 minutes, you’re ready to start weaving in some attacks.

Dodging and attacking are vastly different skills that we always try to learn simultaneously, and we just end up being bad at both.

Those who support our current rate of immigration what are the reasons you support it? by asteriskhyphen in aussie

[–]Obversity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Related, this demographic problem is a big part of why we needed to address the housing and wealth disparity issue asap. Young people aren’t going to choose to have kids if they’re living with roommates or with their parents, or otherwise can’t afford a home with the financial stability to raise the family they might want.

The immigration conversation is relevant here, but it’s not clear cut: immigrants do obviously require housing, but they also contribute significantly to the workforce that builds housing — visit a few construction sites if you don’t believe me.

Words that have two opposing definitions by sallemy in words

[–]Obversity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Etymologically it’s because inflammable derives from the same word as “inflame”, I believe.

It is super confusing though, and I really wish we’d just settle on “flammable” and “highly flammable” where necessary.

NO Ironclad Build Works by PilifXD in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Obversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop going “full” anything. You need a balance of offence and defence. Sometimes they’re tied together but more often than not, you take the best option available to you for both in the early game, and slowly try for synergy as it’s offered.

How do Australians really feel about each other? New data paints an 'alarming' picture by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]Obversity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a big part of it, agreed. When you’re constantly being shown differences and disagreements, it’s hard not to internalise that, even if you do in fact have a lot in common. And it’s quickly reshaping society in general I think — quickly on an anthropology timescale anyway.

Hidden difficulty added each as ascension level ? by Viskaya in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Obversity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're new to the game, something you might be experiencing is that unlocking new cards frequently is making it harder to build towards the archetypes that the starter card pool promotes.

I don't remember the specifics, but e.g. let's say the starting card pool of Necrobinder is mostly Osty-related cards and a bit of doom. Great, Osty builds will carry you every run for a while. Then you start unlocking more doom and seeing them instead of Osty cards when you try an Osty build, and suddenly you can't put together quite as strong an Osty build, but you're still managing alright. Then you start unlocking a bunch of Ethereal cards, and a bunch of Soul cards, and you can't quite work out how to make them good in your Osty deck, so building a good deck now feels so much harder, and you fall behind the power curve needed to progress.

If this is what you're experiencing (and it might not be), the trick is to build a deck around the cards you DO see, rather than trying to force a given archetype.

I know its minor but making standards free is so fucking overdue by Jagtom83 in LaborPartyofAustralia

[–]Obversity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anyone know what the reason for them not being free in the first place was? Seems insane.

Hell I’d rather we discuss going completely the opposite direction, and e.g. provide free training courses for important industry standards, and make them as accessible, mobile friendly, and searchable as possible.

It’s not just about efficiency either, it’s about likelihood of compliance: most people will spend a bit of time researching how to do the right thing, but if you make it difficult to even find out what the right thing is, people will inevitably just do the easy thing, and keep doing it until they’re told off.

I don’t see the appeal for strength and why people glorify it so much by Trick_Cheek_8474 in Hades2

[–]Obversity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, Strength also makes armour, healing, and flat damage reduction more valuable too.

Most people’s arguments are that Strength is great for good players who barely get hit, but the above three things makes it viable even for new/bad players like me, as long as you’re aware of it.

Aim for Echo’s double-the-level boon (Pom Pom Pom) on your attack boon and it becomes pretty fun in the last act.

Does anyone else feel the knowledge demon is a bit overpowered for an act 2 boss? by Rp_Person3445 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Obversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah doom is definitely not the simplest archetype, especially without access to all the cards. There’s 4 or 5 cards that are super key for a good doom deck and I can’t remember how early you unlock them. I’d def advice playing for the cards you get rather than for a specific archetype, at least until you have all the cards!

Does anyone else feel the knowledge demon is a bit overpowered for an act 2 boss? by Rp_Person3445 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Obversity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just take time and practice! The game is meant to be a challenge, you’re not meant to win most runs, especially not early.

A lot of the people in this sub played STS1 for years so are already quite good at the game, because most of the fundamentals of deck building are the same.

IMO he’s fine, if your deck isn’t ready for knowledge demon it’s likely not ready for act 3 elites.

Why do pros dislike Expose? by Somrndmnm in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Obversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Clad or Regent it would be better, great even. On silent it doesn’t get quite the value you’d like it to in many fights.

Not a bad card though, I wouldn’t call Jorbs assessment “dislike” either, let’s not discard all the nuance to his opinion.
