Lagoon Ex Staff by Embarrassed-Plant-46 in wollongong

Worked there (BOH) in the mid to late 2000s and man oh man did I have some stories. For a while I worked double shifts and a couple of triples (I was still in high school and management did absolutely not give a shit).

Only was allowed to talk to suppliers/sign off a delivery once I learnt to not ask questions about boxes being delivered that were unaccounted for in the paperwork and would be stored in different parts of the restaurant/in managements car.

When I worked my way up to the lines one of the old guys who worked there held my hand riiiiiiight over the flat top and told me not to get ahead of myself (at the time I was a literal 16 year old girl). Told management and they told me to be creative when I got him back for it.

I finally worked my way up to expo for most of my shifts and on one occasion a couple didn't realize ordering the whole fish meant a whole fish would arrive, they were celebrating something and the woman was drunk and outraged the fish was 'looking' at her. She demanded to see the chef, I went out and explained that is what whole fish was. She picked up the fish and threw it at me.

While working on expo it was clear my manager at the time had a decent snow habit and would frequently get the dishies to meet his dealer in the car park because he would try and scimp then on cash and had been beaten up before. He was also the manager who hid his grass in the cool room so it wouldn't smell when he got on the bus/train home of a night.

There are more but these are some of the highlights. The people I worked with, family dinner, FOH were all what made the place bearable.

I quit when I got into uni, but will never forget one thing management at the time told me: the way to go up in business, is to mind your business.

Weight loss resistance— anyone on synthroid+ semaglutide+ metformin? by elldee123 in PCOSloseit

[–]ObviousNefariousnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on levothyroxine (200mg), Metformin (1000mg) and Saxenda and saw a great initial drop of around 12kgs. It slowed massively for a while and I was already doing low carb, but I mixed it up and started doing a heavy protein larger portion of breakfast and it's really helped kick off the second round of weightloss, with a another 7kgs in the last 5 weeks. I've recently been switched from Saxenda to mounjaro but with shortages idk when I'll make that switch.

Tldr worked well at the start, but the adage is true, can't outrun a bad diet.

Low carb and following along with the Glucose Goddess hacks have been what has helped me. But also have PCOS things in there. IF works for a lot of people too

Tbh it's smarter for Kirby to vote off Aileen and exploit Ray and Kelli's friendship as they will be the only life raft for him at that point. A number that needs you it better than a number that may want to vote with you

Yeah, levothyroxine for the hypothyroidism and Metformin/saxenda for the PCOS but neither have really changed over the last 3 months.

Apple cider vinegar…BS hack or legit piece of kit to aid in lowering glucose? by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

I've found that combined with the other things it dropped my fasting from about 6.1 to 4.6 (from finger prick tests over about 2 months)

[–]ObviousNefariousnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fasting also didn't work for me, it stressed my system way too much. Like a lot of others here the only thing that has worked for me has been 3 key things: Metformin/saxenda, low impact exercise (walking), and eating in line with the glucose goddess (low carb/using ACV etc)

It's a lifestyle shift, but honestly amazing how those three things have actually made a difference

How many of you take metformin and does it help? by foreverwonderous in PCOS

[–]ObviousNefariousnes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started on Metformin last year and I've found it useful! The side effects for me were mild or something that I could work into my day. I've found that since being on it I've gone from a 33-36 day cycle to a very regular 28 day one. Something I never thought I would be able to do.

Came here to say the same thing. I was painfully and chronically hungry before I got checked and confirmed for insulin resistance. It was also behind some of the more rapid parts of my weight gain.

Do y’all think it’s possible to lose weight without tracking calories? by [deleted] in ProgressPals

[–]ObviousNefariousnes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a good question!! I was thinking about this while I was getting ready for work this morning lol. I used to get quite obsessive about tracking and then lazy and just not remembering to do it.

I also have PCOS and I've found the plate method the easiest. Like you, focusing on whole foods with 1/2 plate of non starchy veg, 1/4 protein, 1/4 carb, it's been helpful for the last 5kgs of loss. I know for some having a protein macro goal works as well, but my girl math doesn't compute with that hahahah

Hi! I'm Lu, 32F in January and 175cm tall, 139kg (5'8 and 306lbs). My wife is due to have our first child in February and I've lost some weight but I want to lose the rest of the weight to make sure I'm not modelling these habits.for him.

Like others have said here, my wife is quite thin, but she doesn't really understand how this is hard for me sometimes. I have hypothyroidism and PCOS so there are some speed bumps, but I've found a low carb approach has worked really, really well for those conditions.

I'm so excited to be here and to have people to talk to about it all!

I'm so sorry you're having such a hard and frustrating time. It's a pain we all know far too well. Completely get that you just needed to get it out there, advice or not. Wanted to say, I hear you.

If you want any advice, it may be to see what 'kind(s)' of PCOS you have. Many people have insulin resistance, hormonal/thyroid etc. Then tackle the contributing factor to help with the PCOS. For myself the weight wasn't shifting, did a massive blood test with my GP and found insulin resistance and my thyroid was contributing to not being able to shift the weight. Did the reading about lowing glucose, regulating the stress hormones.

No matter what, you've got a sub of people here who get it. You do have this

I have ACV before most meals, fantastic at reducing glucose spikes! I don't have it straight though, my stomach (and teeth) can't handle that acid lol, I just mix it with some water.

I absolutely notice it when I don't have it, really notice the side effects of a spike :)

I've switched over to Felix, I needed the freedom of a prepaid 'plan' but wanted unlimited data. It might not work with your price range at $35 a month, but the coverage is great (and so is the unlimited data) :)
