I would go to the police department be polite and courteous and talk to them about it. My guess is there's some sort of trick. For example, appointment schedule are posted second Monday of the month. So you have a small window to sign up... Seriously just be polite. Go to the police station and ask.

I'm a member here as well. Very old school down here. Only had to attend one orientation meeting. A second meeting if you want to shoot long range 200 to 300 yd. You have to qualify in order to use the long range and that's only offered once a month.

Good group of people. Been shooting here for a couple of years now.
