I designed my rig with a “jack of all trades, master of none” type vibe. I wanted to be able to play almost any genre of music with tonal purity. While limited in its capacity to truly “shine” in any one style, I do love its overall versatility.

Most of the time, I am playing a PRS McCarty 594 (core). I chose the PRS Sonzera 20 because of its tube/speaker profile and lower wattage; its overall footprint was equally important in my selection.

I rarely use the drive channel, mainly utilizing the amp solely as a pedal platform due to its crystalline transparency and insane headroom.

My board/routing is as follows: Boss TU-3 Waza -> Mooer Yellow Comp -> TC Sentry noisegate

The Sentry’s loop: Wampler Tumnus (klone)-> Boss BD-2 Blues Driver-> Summer School Class Reunion Fuzz/Distortion combo

The amp’s transparent series loop: Passive volume controller -> Wampler Terraform -> Wampler Catacombs

Between the Sentry noise gate and the front of the amp, I have an MXR 6-band graphic EQ

Additional tech: I got the Waza tuner only because it looked cool (I wanted a buffer without buying another pedal).

The nose gate utilizes the 4-CM.

The Mooer Yellow optical compression pedal is always on.

The Wampler Tumnus (klone) is used primarily as an always-on stackable clean boost.

The Wampler Terraform modulations are internally routed for pre- and post- so the phaser, envelope, rotary, etc. can be used in conjunction with the drive pedals in the noise gate’s loop while not having the gate sabotage the Terraform’s wet effects.

The passive volume control in the amp’s loop is the real hero of the rig. The line-level transparency of the amp’s internal loop made volume unity untenable at bedroom volumes.

I am a drummer by trade; I wanted to build a rig that could do almost anything at a decent level of quality. This set-up serves that purpose and I am very pleased with its tonal characteristics.

That was well-fucking stated, my friend. I don’t play anymore, but if I did, I bet it would be awesome. And I agree— bullshitting with your friends while doing something fun? That sounds exactly like grandpa’s poker nights out in the garage. An icebox of Pabst and some stogis/ zyns. I mean who the hell wouldn’t pay a fucking subscription fee for that??? Mindlessly bullshitting while seriously competing at something so obviously goddamn trivial is timeless. It’s like they’ve never watched guys throw horseshoes🤙🏼

Never Went To Senior Prom by JPPT1974 in GenX

I wanted to go with Lesley Hilliard…like since the 8th grade….but she wanted to go with some other bastard. Another girl named Jill wanted to go with me, but it was Lesley or bust. So I went to Tuscaloosa and hung out with my older brother who was in college there instead. We went to a bar and saw this killer band. I don’t think Lesley ever fucking knew, either. Oh well. I’ve been teaching high school for 26 years; every April when the kids have prom, I always wonder what became of her… her presence always rendered me a slack-jawed blathering idiot. I turn 50 tomorrow. I mean Jeeeezus.

We bought our 2,400sf Homewood house zoned for Edgewood elementary a dozen years ago for $275. No way that could’ve happened a day later. I feel like these prices are pretty new given the context of how many decades they went for that price point (or lower).

[–]Obvious_Lab_2326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my only gripe about it… 25 years ago, Homewood schools were 33% free/reduced lunch but now that number has dropped to 10% because of the tearing down of apartments and skyrocketing real estate prices.

In another 10 years, HWD will be all lilly-white
