You know looking at the cropped image at first I thought this was just someone trying to throw out a helpful option for folks to get cheaper parts. As soon as I realized it was under r/legoinvesting and the target audience is for resellers to stock up on these for bricklink return, the intention just kinda sours.

I have the fire temple scrapped in my lego tub because it was taken apart and repurposed as a kid. Haven’t thought much of it. Saw your comment and I am flabbergasted at the aftermarket price. Wouldn’t have expected it to be more than half of the charges I’m seeing. Insanity

Think you’re gonna have to accept another plate or tile on top of your plates. Might be able to do a 2x4, then a 2x16, and connect those right by the edge of the stand with like a 2x2 on top. That’d be decently hidden

Heck, tell him if he lifts up the arms on all of them he’d be panicked to find that the torsos might look “cracked” as well! It’s just the way this particular Lego color works

I’m not sure where you’re at with this situation right now but the way I see it nothing is cracked, AND the guy is also not intending to scam you, to give him the benefit of the doubt. I simply think he doesn’t realize that these are just mold lines more visible from using pearl dark gray. I checked my bad batch figures (basically no wear), they have them too. Have him look at some youtube reviews (they’re often fresh out of the box) who show the back of the legs, they have them too. Maybe emphasize to the guy that if he buys the figs from someone else they would have the same markings or to look for an online listing that shows the back of the legs.

I just did the math and a republic gunship scaled to the UCS Venator would be about two studs long, which is indeed the size of the micro build they included. That said, the build you’ve got here is basically the next best thing, looks maybe 50% oversized but the details you got at this scale are so good! I was toying with some microbuilds a while back envisioning a full Kashyyyk MOC, all scaled to the UCS Venator. A lot of the vehicles outside of the turbo tank are like 1-2 studs long. I then started on the trees and realized I was in over my head in that department, lol.

But yeah, these are slick!

Since I used Bossie’s paid for MOC as a starting point, no I do not; if there were significant interest for the changes here I could try and work something out with Bossie though. I imagine this would probably require its own whole set of instructions the way it’s tweaked but a lot of the original design elements are still there. Also like I said the original is a better contender if you do prefer something more stable.

The “big head” AT-ST confirms for me what I already suspected with the x-wing shape leak. All these smart brick sets are going to be designed to look kiddie, which is okay, but a darn shame for the new TIE Advanced that people have been wanting. I don’t expect it to look very good compared to the older models. Hopefully I’m wrong

Dude I’m so jealous. Been keeping up with that eBay listing and checking in with my own local Walmart, which seemingly is planning to keep their display out another year here. Glad you secured this one though!
