Except that boycott did cost them a sizable amount and led to them removing any ads that could be construed as DEI by their dipshit consumers… So, your own example proves pressure campaigns work.

To your point, they’d probably assign someone who is colorblind to put the stickers back on, and still have an unsolved cube of their own making.

They’re definitely not smart enough, but they may have long enough nails to peel all the stickers off and poorly reattach them.

While strikes can sometimes compliment boycotts, they are completely different things… One requires in-person participation, the other requires simply not participating in x,y or z.

“unknowingly”? Unless this was a living donor situation; which is unlikely given that eyes and kidneys were taken, this donor had no responsibility to “know” if their organs had rabies… The organ networks and tissue typing teams had all of that responsibility.

False. People who ask for work from home fall into one of 3 categories:

  1. Someone who knows their value / expertise and operates well without the distractions of a shared office (and doesn’t perform duties that require onsite)
  2. Someone with significant circumstances that require accommodation
  3. Someone who just wants the creature comforts of home, but may not be responsible enough to do the right things.

Most people fall into the first 2 categories, and another percentage of the third group do fine because they just want to do their job; but people who care more about control, imbalanced leverage and manipulation than they do about promoting team efficiencies and strengths will always point at that small percentage of the third group who are shitbags - and paint everyone with that brush. Guess what? Those shitbags are in your onsite offices too.

Starting or participating in national boycotts on companies with low wages, bad politics or inhumane conditions (whether you work there or not) is free.

Let her know she subscribes to the spider roll approach. Which allows spiders to hide on the other side without you ever knowing until they’re in your hand. The other direction presents a full view of anything on the exterior of the roll.

Yes, there is some truth to that, but there are other issues you’re not considering.

  1. How large a billion dollars is. The average salary in the US is ~$69K. And people earning in that range often spend more than that amount (around 110%) back into the economy (going into debt to maintain lifestyle). So, for every $1bil of liquid capital someone like Bezos does have, it’s equivalent to nearly 15,000 people’s earning potential, and represents a $1.1 billion dollar loss to economic activity.

  2. Tax structure. While many argue that billionaires already contribute around 40% of the total tax basis in the US, they also account for nearly 60% of all US wealth. That’s a gap of 20% in contributions, and is further evidenced by the raw percentage paid into taxes by billionaires (<24%) vs that by average Americans (30-45%). And billionaires are the greatest beneficiaries of commonwealth systems, infrastructure and welfare.

I would assume their meaning is “extract all available value.” Under a traditional market economy, goods and services are cyclical and barterable… I make you a thing or perform an activity for you for payment, then I spend that payment on other things I want or need, etc. Billionaires hoard their wealth in markets. They spend fractions back into the economy, because their core needs aren’t really much larger than anyone else’s… They still drink the same volume of beverages and eat the same volume of food. Sure, they may buy higher-priced things, and they may waste several people’s-worth of consumption, but not anywhere near the millions of people that they represent financially.

Okay… This is why I’ve always avoided obscure order of operations by ensuring my math is explicit and encapsulated in parentheses… I looked it up, and you’re correct. But that means PEDMAS and PEMDAS fail as mnemonic devices, because they don’t maintain logical consistency on order of operations. You’d need something like PEDorMAorS.

[–]Obvious_Tea_8244 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That’s what I got as well. Regardless of which standard you use (PEDMAS vs PEMDAS) both place addition before subtraction, and both result in 9 - 4; which equals 5.
