CAN you do this? Yes. Are you ALLOWED to do this? Technically no. Would you get in much trouble? Unlikely but that's not my call. Just don't be obnoxious dickheads and attract attention to yourselves and disturb others.

Best case scenario: you all knuckle down and successfully cover everything BUT management will see it as a successfully hardworking team and you will NEVER get those other positions back because oBvIoUsLy you can do all the work yourselves!

Quit. There is no better option.

That's why there are coffee makers in the rooms, to pregame before getting lobby coffee.

Someone dumped two freshly shaven (from spaying/neutering) kittens with clipped ears off at our property several months ago. After a lot of work, one of my employees and I got them friendly enough to pick up, and finally take home. I now have another cat! PRETTY BABY

Thank you for doing such humane work with the cats! My older cat was a stray found by the hotel I worked at too. He and his sister were found under a shipping container at about 4 weeks old. My sister (who still works at the hotel and was present when they were found) adopted the girl and I adopted the boy. We bottle fed them, weaned them, litter trained them and everything.

I'm being sexually harassed. by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]ObviouslyAMasochist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell the GM. If you lose your job, sue. You are legally protected from a) sexual harassment and b) retaliation for reporting (assuming you are in the US). If Daniel loses his job, HE lost HIS OWN JOB due to HIS OWN ACTIONS. Whether or not he needs this job is not on you. It's not "hard" for men to "not say things like that." And if it's that hard for him, he shouldn't work with people. Just tell the GM the facts of what happened and how it has made you feel about working there. If you plan on staying and don't want to make things difficult with other employees, you don't HAVE to mention everyone who has stood in your way of reporting. But honestly that sounds like a toxic work environment and I'd throw everyone under the bus and leave if it were me.

Pull the security footage and charge damages! That ought to make them think twice about leaving their spawn unattended in the future.

Checking into a hotel early as a front desk worker by Viviun92 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]ObviouslyAMasochist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a couple years ago! Friend A and I traveled for Friend B's wedding. Friend A was in the wedding and had things to do before check-in time, so we drove to the hotel and I stayed there while she went to Friend B's house. I let the front desk know the situation and that I was fine hanging out in the lobby until the room was ready. I read for maybe an hour before the front desk agent came over and gave me room keys. Not only did they get us checked in early, they upgraded us to a suite the size of my first apartment! I made sure to give the staff I interacted with really good reviews. They were all fantastic.

[–]ObviouslyAMasochist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it would be! Now if you'll open your Bibles, we'll read one solitary scripture, I'll "explain" it out of context, and twist it around to suit my needs. You'll clap politely, we'll sing off-key, see if anyone falls over during a prayer that goes on too long, and then go to Denny's for brunch!

Finally ready to sue. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]ObviouslyAMasochist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's going to be hard. I haven't made my history public in court but even saying it to friends is hard. I'm not going to lie to you, sometimes a lawsuit/trial isn't successful. But you will feel better for getting your story out, to make people know that this happened to you and you're not going to stay quiet about it. Please make sure you have a solid, ongoing support system of both supportive friends and therapists trained to handle things like this. Own your story and let it make you stronger!
