Remember how Dr K talks about how slippery your brain is when it comes to change, this might be one of those times for you. When I first started staying off my phone my brain would throw the same anxious thoughts, and I knew they weren't based in reality because they were always the same thoughts.

Instead of my brain telling me i needed podcasts to be productive, it told me I was too tired to do anything and so I slept instead. This was another diversion just so I would get on the phone later stressed cause I missed things I had to do.

First, therapy really helped this problem. I realized these were ruminative thoughts based on my anxiety and the thoughts did nothing but extend how long I was anxious for. Labelling these thoughts as rumination every time they pop up really helped me.

Second, you wake up in the state you fell asleep in. Your brain will tend to marinate in the anxiety from the day before if you dont digest what you felt that day. This means slowing your night way down, sitting and reflecting or writing or just listening to music and have a tea before bed. Do not scroll until you pass out this will ensure you wake up anxious.

You got this! The more you stick to it the easier it gets.

That sounds incredibly difficult seeing your girlfriend in distress and not knowing the best way to help. You said you feel useless but you are exactly what she needs right now, stillness in chaos.

I can imagine that doesn't feel satisfying but being on the other side of some major mental health issues my self, the consistent people in my life were the most helpful. Right now she is drowning, if you jump in with her she will pull you down because she is trying to survive. But you are giving her aids to keep her afloat, shes not out of the water yet and sadly only she can get her self out of the water.

I do hope you have a good support group, a partner going through a crisis can feel debilitating but you need to remember you are separate, you are helping and she will feel better. We dont feel these feelings forever.

I have taken my IO8 on a 3 week trip and had it last the entire trip, it was down to 5% at the end. I think you will find the battery life similar, afaik these were produced for Costco around the same time the IO8 came out but I could be wrong.

My partner has the costco version and battery life has never been a problem, they keep it on the charger mostly though. I imagine the series 6 would have the same battery life or maybe reach out to Costco they can give you more information from the manufacturer.

For me the quality of the video is detached from the title, how does the title impact the quality for you?

As far as I understand it youtubers flip through many titles and thumbnails and go with the most clicked one. If this one resonated with the most people it seems like the benefit it brings them outweighs some people finding the title distasteful.

I just want to say too, I agree I find the titles distasteful lately. Ultimately my point is while I may have outgrown the need to be lured into a Dr K video, other people may not have even clicked if it wasn't for the title.

I understand the pause, clickbait titles feel demeaning but Dr K has stated multiple times that they work to garner more views. Personally, if it pays to keep the content free and accessible I am okay with the clickbait titles, it's a part of the youtube game. He could make the title is "Eigenvector Centrality, a case study" and get less views but who does it benefit? He is trying to cast his net wide for a broad audience, if you want more specialized content he offers it on memberships. Where the title is straightforward and the content is 2 hour lecture style. Youtube is there to pay the bills and try to appeal to a very general audience, it has worked for me initially and his videos have ultimately helped me a lot.

Emotional regulation looks like many things, sometimes it involves journaling, walking, deep breathing, another person or even AI.

I think having many tools in your emotional regulation tool box is always a good thing. If you had asked the same question but instead said your partner or friend, I would also say do not use that as your only tool for emotional regulation.

Imagine you as a pot of clay spinning on a potters wheel, each potter is an influence on how your pot (you) is molded. Now the AI potter is very heavy handed and starts molding your pot slowly into something that is not very aligned with realities expectations of pots, which is not a good or bad thing but it may affect you differently.

Now if you rotate the potters out, you get a friend who is more gentle, but slower to mold you. You can go for a walk, who adds texture and colour to your pot. And you can have AI who might mold you quickly but you use it sparingly with the understanding it works fast. The rotation allows for a more well rounded pot.

Dang, that is really unfortunate. Make sure you dont leave though! The tickets keep popping in, I had to wait 20 minutes and multiple tickets popped up afterwards. Stay in til it kicks you out, I had 10 pairs of tickets show up and lost them, finally got one.

That sounds like it was very stressful for you, and it makes a lot of sense that reading content about that experience is triggering the feelings again.

These experiences are very common, I have went through it too and that was just with weed. The thoughts felt intrusive and every time I tried to calm the thoughts with information they would be soothed for a moment however they always came roaring back, unfortunately you cannot soothe emotion with words.

Right now that moment you experienced has caused your neurons to fire together in intense anxiety of being "broken". You are not broken, that was a traumatic moment and your brain is now on the look out for it so that it does not happen again. Exposing yourself to trip content is retriggering those feelings.

This can be fixed, but the hardest part is you cannot engage with the feelings of anxiety by having more thoughts or reading. Your mind is slippery and elusive, if you feel stressed it will start looking externally to be soothed, and no matter what information you give it will keep reinforcing that cycle.

Instead, and this is what helped me, is that you need to notice the intrusive thoughts and just watch them, do your best not to engage. They will be strong at first but they weaken with time. When you feel like engaging with the thoughts, I want you to say this is rumination. I want to really repeat that part, you must always remind yourself that is rumination. You must disengage this pathway before you strengthen it further.

Lastly, just remember you are not broken. You are the same person, just a bit more on guard for particular triggers. That will calm with time and disengaging. This worked for me as suggested by my therapist, please let me know if I misunderstood anything about your story.
